Nitrogen and phosphorus availability limit N2 fixation in bean [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2000
Availability of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) might significantly affect N2 fixation in legumes. The interaction of N and P was studied in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), considering their effects on nodulation and N2 fixation, nitrate reductase activity, and the composition of N compounds in xylem sap.

Phosphorus fixation studies with some Saskatchewan soils

open access: yes, 1946
Study of phosphorus fixation (i.e. chemical change undergone by phosphorus contained in fertilizers in the soil, rendering phosphorus insoluble and unavailable to plants) in some Saskatchewan, Canada soils - examines rate and extent of fixation, effect ...

Mass‐Transport–Engineered CCM Architecture Employing MPL‐Free Carbon Paper and Graphene‐Coated Ni Foam Channels for High‐Temperature PEM Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A CCM‐based architectural strategy is introduced for high‐temperature PEM fuel cells, enabling MPL‐free carbon paper gas diffusion layers via decal‐transfer processing. By co‐engineering the CCM, GDL, and a G‐foam flow field, oxygen transport is enhanced while phosphoric‐acid leakage is suppressed, resulting in high power density and stable operation ...

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Effect of Exogenous Organic Matter on Phosphorus Forms in Middle-High Fertility Cinnamon Soil

open access: yesPlants
Objectives: To slow down the chemical fixation of phosphate fertilizer, reduce the risk of active phosphorus leaching, stimulate the inherent phosphorus resource activity of soil, and improve phosphorus supply capacity.

INORGANIC PHOSPHORUS FORMS IN ALLUVIAL AND CALCAREOUS SOILS AS AFFECTED BY DIFFERENT PHOSPHORUS APPLICATION LEVELS AND INCUBATION PERIODS. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering, 2011
There is a debate concerning the optimum time of phosphorus application under Egyptian soil conditions. For this purpose, a laboratory incubation experiment was carried out at Soils Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University to determine the

WS2 Optoelectronic Memristive Reservoir Enabling Ultra‐Low‐Power, Multi‐Task, and Environmentally Stable Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
WS2‐based in‐memory sensing reservoir computing integrates sensing, memory, and computation in one compact device. It achieves ∼94% N‐MNIST, ∼93% eye motion perception, and ∼89% speech recognition with ultra‐low energy (∼25.5 fJ/spike). The system shows stability at 95% humidity, endurance over 1.5M cycles, and supports synaptic plasticity, enabling ...

Sulfur‑Containing Additives for Enhanced Kinetics and Interfacial Stability of Phosphorus Anodes in Li‑Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel synergistic strategy by employing dual functional sulfur‐containing additives of lithium sulfide (Li2S) and its oxidation product lithium sulfate (Li2SO4) was proposed. Li2SO4 absorbs the solvent molecules to direct the formation of a uniform, Li2O‐rich, and adaptive interphase, which accommodates volume expansion and suppresses parasitic ...

A New Customizable Surfactant LLPS Strategy for Sustainable and Highly Efficient Radioactive Metal Ion Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A diluent‐free, customizable liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) platform enables highly efficient radioactive metal ion extraction and stripping. By encapsulating hydrophobic extractants into an ionic surfactant‐rich condensed phase, this LLPS system leverages synergistic electrostatic and coordination interactions.
