EFFECTS OF STORAGE ON PHOSPHORUS RECOVERY FROM URINE

Environmental Technology, 2008
In laboratory experiments using synthetic urine the effect of temperature, faecal contamination, dilution and headspace on urine to be used as a feedstock for struvite recovery were examined. The effects of adding different quantities of magnesium on the amount of phosphorus that could be removed from solution was also examined.

Phosphorus removal and recovery: state of the science and challenges

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
Phosphorus is one of the main nutrients required for all life. Phosphorus as phosphate form plays an important role in different cellular processes. Entrance of phosphorus in the environment leads to serious ecological problems including water quality problems and soil pollution. Furthermore, it may cause eutrophication as well as harmful algae blooms (

Phosphorus Removal and Recovery in Water Resource Recovery Facilities

2021
Boon and bane of phosphorus are close together, as it is on the one side essential nutrient for humans, animals, and plants, especially as an indispensable component of fertilizers to provide crop plants with it by applying on agricultural land. On the other side, ending up in water bodies, high amounts of phosphorus cause eutrophication.

Phosphorus Recovery from Wastewater

2013
Phosphate (P) fertiliser is a basis for global food production that cannot be substituted. Phosphorus rock from which P fertilisers are produced is a non‐renewable and limited resource and there is growing concern that it could become scarce at some time in the future. Wastewater is a major P sink and, during wastewater treatment, P is removed with the

The Relevance of Phosphorus and Iron Chemistry to the Recovery of Phosphorus from Wastewater: A Review

Environmental Science & Technology, 2015
The addition of iron is a convenient way for removing phosphorus from wastewater, but this is often considered to limit phosphorus recovery. Struvite precipitation is currently used to recover phosphorus, and this approach has attracted much interest. However, it requires the use of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR).

Recovery Kinetics of Phosphorus Ion-Implanted a-Si:H

MRS Proceedings, 1996
AbstractHydrogenated amorphous silicon was implanted with phosphorus ions to a uniform concentration of 3×1020 cm-3 and defect saturation. The implants were annealed isochronally up to 400°C in the dark or under additional illumination. This illumination had no effect on recovery. The Urbach energy remains higher than that of silicon-implants.

Prospects for phosphorus recovery from poultry litter

Bioresource Technology, 2009
Land disposal of poultry litter is an environmental concern often associated to excess phosphorus (P) in soils and potential water pollution in regions with intense poultry production. Although poultry litter can be moved off the farm and traded as fertilizer, its transportation becomes less economical with increasing distances from the farm. Thus, new

Phosphorus poisoning with recovery accompanied by electrocardiographic changes

The American Journal of Medicine, 1948
Abstract 1.1. A case of ostensibly mild phosphorus poisoning is presented. 2.2. Changes were found in the hemopoietic, hepatic and cardiovascular systems. 3.3. The significance of the T wave changes in the electrocardiogram is discussed.

Is Phosphorus Recovery from Waste Water Feasible?

Environmental Technology, 2007
Phosphorus (P) recovery from waste water must become a predominant goal of all countries to face the limited resources of this essential nutrient. The induced crystallisation of calcium phosphates straight from the waste water phase applying tobermorite-rich calcium silicate hydrate compounds (CSH) from the construction industry as the trigger material
