1-Deoxynojirimycin Alleviates Liver Injury and Improves Hepatic Glucose Metabolism in db/db Mice
The present study investigated the effect of 1-Deoxynojirimycin (DNJ) on liver injury and hepatic glucose metabolism in db/db mice. Mice were divided into five groups: normal control, db/db control, DNJ-20 (DNJ 20 mg·kg−1·day−1), DNJ-40 (DNJ 40 mg·kg−1 ...

This review outlines the potential role of anti‐GPCR autoantibodies in MASLD/MASH, given their involvement in a wide range of diseases and their possible contribution to MASLD/MASH pathophysiology. We also focused on anti‐ApoA1 autoantibodies, sharing functional features with anti‐GPCR autoantibodies and have been shown to promote liver steatosis in ...

Maximizing efficiency of rumen microbial protein production. [PDF]
Rumen microbes produce cellular protein inefficiently partly because they do not direct all ATP toward growth. They direct some ATP toward maintenance functions, as long-recognized, but they also direct ATP toward reserve carbohydrate synthesis and ...

Human FASTK preferentially binds single‐stranded and G‐rich RNA
Although FASTK is known to play a role in mRNA biology, the mechanism through which it recognizes RNA has yet to be unraveled. Here, we used purified human FASTK to characterize its RNA‐binding properties in vitro. We found that FASTK prefers ssRNA oligonucleotides containing guanines with the potential to form G‐quadruplexes and binds robustly to any ...

Selective Phosphorylation of Phenols and Benzenediols by the Kinase PsiK and Variants Thereof
PsiK from Psilocybe cubensis phosphorylates a diverse set of substituted phenols and benzenediols beyond its native substrate. High‐throughput screening of active site mutant libraries using DESI‐MS enabled protein engineering of PsiK, further expanding its substrate scope.

Clinical and biochemical improvements in a patient with MNGIE following enzyme replacement. [PDF]
Mitochondrial neurogastrointestinal encephalomyopathy (MNGIE) is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency of thymidine phosphorylase (TP, EC2.4.2.4) due to mutations in the nuclear gene TYMP.

l‐serine levels in the human brain are maintained by the phosphorylated pathway, a three‐step process catalyzed by phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH), phosphoserine aminotransferase (PSAT) and phosphoserine phosphatase (PSP). These enzymes assemble in a metabolon called the serinosome. The double R27S/D32G PSP variant was identified in the brain of

Rhabdomyolysis: a genetic perspective [PDF]
Rhabdomyolysis (RM) is a clinical emergency characterized by fulminant skeletal muscle damage and release of intracellular muscle components into the blood stream leading to myoglobinuria and, in severe cases, acute renal failure.

Effects of Fasting on Intermediary Metabolism Enzymes in the Liver and Muscle of Rainbow Trout
Fish can go through periods of feed deprivation, either due to natural causes influenced by temperature or management techniques in animal production, affecting their energy metabolism differently, depending on the duration of fasting in days and water ...

MTAP immunohistochemistry (IHC) was evaluated as a diagnostic tool for peritoneal mesothelioma by comparing it with CDKN2A homozygous deletion (HD) detected by FISH. Results showed low concordance between MTAP IHC and CDKN2A HD, suggesting MTAP IHC is not reliable for predicting CDKN2A HD in peritoneal mesothelioma. Further studies are needed.
