Preparation of proton conductive composites with CsHSO4/CsH2PO4 and phosphosilicate gel
Solid State Ionics, 2006Abstract New composite materials were prepared using cesium hydrogen sulfate (CsHSO 4 ) or cesium dihydrogen phosphate (CsH 2 PO 4 ) and phosphosilicate gel (P 2 O 5 –SiO 2 gel). In X-ray diffraction patterns of these composites, diffraction peaks due to Cs 2 H 5 (SO 4 ) 2 (PO 4 ) and CsH 5 (PO 4 ) 2 were observed for CsHSO 4 –(P 2 O 5 –SiO 2 gel)

Performance enhancement of phosphoric acid fuel cell by using phosphosilicate gel based electrolyte
Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology, 2012Abstract Replacement of phosphoric acid electrolyte by phosphosilicate gel based electrolytes is proposed to enhance the performance of phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC). Phosphosilicate gels in paste form and in powder form are synthesized from tetraethoxysilane and orthophosphoric acid by using sol-gel method, for two different P/Si ratios of 5 and 1.

Synthesis of High Surface Area Phosphosilicate Glasses by a Modified Sol−Gel Method
Chemistry of Materials, 2005High surface area phosphosilicate glasses were synthesized by a new sol−gel method and characterized for structural, textural, and acid properties by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry/differential thermal analysis, IR spectroscopy (Fourier transform and diffuse reflectance Fourier transform), solid state 31P and 29Si NMR spectroscopy, N2 adsorption ...

Preparation of proton conductive composites with cesium hydrogen sulfate and phosphosilicate gel
Solid State Ionics, 2005Abstract We prepared a new composite material composed of cesium hydrosulfate (CsHSO 4 ) and phosphosilicate gel (P 2 O 5 –SiO 2 gel); a high temperature form of the former exhibits exceptionally high proton conductivity at above 144 °C without humidification and the latter is one of the high proton conductors working under low humidity in a ...

Abstract Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) are important in the field of renewable energy resources. Phosphoric acid doped proton conducting polymers are mainly used as polymer electrolytes. But the main problems of such electrolyte are leaching out of the phosphoric acid, flooding, low mechanical stability and fuel cell crossover ...

Abstract Thermally stable proton-conducting composite sheets of 50–100 μm thick have been prepared from phosphosilicate gel (P/Si=1 molar ratio) powders and polyimide precursor. The proton conductivity of the composite sheet increased with an increase in the phosphosilicate gel content.

Abstract Changes in proton conductivities of phosphosilicate gels derived from tetraethoxysilane and phosphoric acid or triethylphosphate have been discussed on the basis of the structural changes in the gels with the heat treatment. Proton conductivities of both phosphosilicate gels increased with an increase in relative humidity, indicating that ...

Stress in thick sol-gel phosphosilicate glass films formed on Si substrates
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1994Abstract It is shown that thick (> 10 μm) films of phosphosilicate glass may be formed on silicon substrates by repetitive spin-coating and rapid thermal annealing of commercial sol-gel material. The viability of the process is explained in terms of film stresses, and it is demonstrated that annealing above a critical temperature is necessary to ...

Abstract Proton conductivities of phosphosilicate dry gels derived from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and H 3 PO 4 increased with an increase in the P/Si mole ratio from 0.5 to 1.0 and tended to level off at 1.0–1.5. The dry gel powder pellets with a P/Si mole ratio of 1.0 showed a high conductivity of 1×10 −2 S cm −1 even after keeping under the ...
