Formation of functional phosphosilicate gels from phytic acid and tetraethyl orthosilicate [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2008
Phosphosilicate gels with high phosphorus content (P mol% > Si mol%) have been prepared using phytic acid as the phosphorus precursor, with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). It is shown that the structure of phytic acid is maintained in both the sols and those gels dried at a low temperature (i.e.

Chemical heterogeneity in phosphosilicate gels by NMR magnetisation exchange

Journal of the Chemical Society, Dalton Transactions, 2001
Nanometre scale chemical heterogeneity has been revealed in a phosphosilicate gel by 31P spin exchange. Monomeric phosphorus was found near to phosphorus singly cross-linked with phosphorus. Phosphorus doubly cross-linked with phosphorus was found to be remote from both other types of phosphorus species.

Microstructural evolution of sol-gel-derived phosphosilicate gel with heat treatment

Journal of Materials Science, 1994
The microstructure of phosphosilicate gel prepared by a sol-gel process was investigated as a function of the heat-treatment temperature. Crystalline phases, Si3(PO4)4 and SiP2O7, were identified in the heat-treated phosphosilicate gel containing 56 mol% P2O5.

Solid state NMR study of phosphosilicate gels

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2004
Solid state Si-29, P-31 and H-1 MAS-NMR were used to investigate structural aspects of gel-derived glasses of molar composition 10P(2)O(5).90SiO(2) (10P) and 30P(2)O(5) . 70SiO(2) (30P). P-31 MAS-NMR spectra of the 10P and 30P gels dried at 100degreesC show resonances characteristic of orthophosphoric and pyrophosphoric acid.

Phosphosilicate gel-polybenzimidazole nanocomposite novel membrane for fuel cell application

International Journal of Plastics Technology, 2014
Phosphosilicate gel-Polybenzimidazole (PBI) nanocomposite electrolyte membranes are synthesised, characterized and tested for fuel cell performance. The chemical structure of both phosphosilicate gel and PBI are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

Phosphosilicate glass film for optical waveguide by sol-gel method

Optoelectronics Letters, 2005
In this paper, silica-on-silicon erbium-doped phosphosilicate glass film material was fabricated for optical waveguides by sol-gel method. Samples were characterized and analyzed. It is demonstrated that we have got-distributed, good translucent, alterable thickness of film and glass state erbiumdoped phosphosilicate films materials for optical ...

Sol–gel produced sodium calcium phosphosilicates for bioactive applications: Synthesis and structural characterisation

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2011
A series of phosphosilicates P(2)O(5) (45 mol-CaO (20-40 mol-Na(2)O (5-20 mol-SiO(2) (10-15 mol has been synthesised by the sol-gel route using PO(OH)(3-x)(OC(2)H(5))(x) (x = 1, 2) as the phosphorus precursor. Evolution of the gels with temperature was studied using thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis.

Preparation of Proton Conductive Phosphosilicate Gels Derived from 2-(Diethoxyphosphoryl)ethyltriethoxysilane

Chemistry Letters, 2000
Abstract The phosphosilicate gels derived from the mixture of 2-(diethoxyphosphoryl)ethyltriethoxysilane (DPTS) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) showed a high proton conductivity after a heat treatment at 450 °C. The high conductivity was brought by the generation of large amounts of isolated orthophosphoric acid in the gels due to the ...
