Ictus Emeticus Induced by Photic Stimulation
Clinical Electroencephalography, 1988It has been recently established that ictus emeticus originates from mesial temporal lobe structures. We herein report a patient with generalized epilepsy who exhibited ictus emeticus reflexly triggered by intermittent photic stimulation accompanied by generalized photoparoxysmal responses on the electroencephalogram. All seizures and EEG abnormalities

Contribution of intermittent photic stimulation to routine EEG
Neurophysiologie Clinique, 2021Intermittent photic stimulation (IPS) is an activation procedure performed during electroencephalography (EEG) to detect photosensitive patients. This procedure is recommended in routine EEGs but the benefit of IPS in the general population is not clearly ascertained. We retrospectively analyzed 7683 EEGs of patients referred for a routine EEG to the ...

This contribution on photic stimulation is an attempt to stress its clinical value. The efficiency of photic stimulation is very poor if it is used to serve one purpose only, that is, testing a patient's photo convulsive threshold. Photic stimulation can be a much more powerful aid because driving responses make a positive contribution towards a better

Spectral analysis of photic stimulation in migraine
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1982In seeking an electrophysiologic discriminator of migraine, we applied computer technology to power spectral analysis of the EEG with photic stimulation. In 11 normal volunteers and 11 migraineurs (both classic and common) we were able to classify all migraineurs and misclassified only one normal based on the spectral analysis.

Hemodynamic responses to photic stimulation in neonates
Pediatric Neurology, 2000A three-channel near-infrared monitoring system was used to evaluate the regional hemodynamic responses to photic stimulation during spontaneous sleep in seven healthy neonates. Three pairs of parallel light guides, separated by 15 mm each, were placed over a 450-mm(2) occipital region of the head.

Photic-stimulation in three species of baboons
Life Sciences, 1967Abstract A high percentage of baboons of the species Papio papio have presented evidence of photomyoclonic epilepsy (2, 3 and 4). Four of the first group of 10 from Senegal (tested in the laboratories of Dr. R. Naquet, C.N.R.S.-I.N.P. 3, Marseille, France) presented characteristic clinical and electroencephalographic signs of the syndrome (2). Later,
