Photo-Fenton-Based Degradation of Methylene Blue Dye Using Hydroxyapatite Nanoparticles Doped with Fe3O4/γ-Fe2O3

open access: yes, 2022
In this study, we evaluated the catalytic properties of hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles (NPs) doped with Fe3O4/γ-Fe2O3 for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye using a photo-Fenton process at pH 2.5, 7.0, and 9.0.

Incorporating biodegradation and advanced oxidation processes in the treatment of spent metalworking fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The treatment of spent metalworking fluids (MWFs) is difficult due to their complex and variable composition. Small businesses often struggle to meet increasingly stringent legislation and rising costs as they need to treat this wastewater on site ...

Degradation of phenol and 4-chlorophenol from aqueous solution by Fenton, photo-Fenton, sono-Fenton, and sono-photo-Fenton methods

open access: yes, 2023
In this study, the effects of Fenton process (FP), photo-Fenton process (P-FP), sono-Fenton process (S-FP), and sono-photo-Fenton process (S-P-FP) for the degradation of phenol and 4 chlorophenol (4-CP) from aqueous solution were evaluated.

Functional carbon nitride materials in photo-fenton-like catalysis for environmental remediation

open access: yes, 2022
Among various advanced oxidation processes, coupled photocatalysis and heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysis (known as photo-Fenton-like catalysis) to generate highly reactive species for environmental remediation has attracted wide interests.

Modeling electrodialysis and a photochemical process for their integration in saline wastewater treatment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Oxidation processes can be used to treat industrial wastewater containing non-biodegradable organic compounds. However, the presence of dissolved salts may inhibit or retard the treatment process. In this study, wastewater desalination by electrodialysis

Increasing Photo-Fenton process Efficiency: The effect of high temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The possibility to intensify the homogeneous photo-Fenton by increasing temperature (up to 90 °C) has been deeply investigated using phenol as model pollutant and treating a real landfill leachate effluent. TOC removal rate was significantly improved as

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.
