Adhesion of Hydrogels to Fluoropolymers by Electrophoretic Fluoropolymer Coating

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Both fluoropolymers and hydrogels are generally regarded as difficult‐to‐bond materials; however, adhesion between them was achieved by coating the hydrogel with a fluorinated copolymer. ABSTRACT Although hydrogels are widely used in bio‐integrated devices and soft systems, their robust adhesion to polymers with low surface energies remains a ...

Continuous Intrajejunal Levodopa–Carbidopa Infusion in Parkinson's Disease Associated with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome: A Case Series

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS) is a multisystem genetic disorder associated with a significantly increased risk of early‐onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD). Management is challenging because psychiatric and cognitive comorbidities often limit advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation (DBS). Cases We report 2 patients with

Lichen‐Derived Mineral Residue as a Renewable Particulate Filler in Polylactic Acid Biocomposites: Structure, Melt Rheology, Viscoelastic, and Flexural Behavior

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Lichen residue, a renewable mineral‐organic material, was melt compounded with polylactic acid and triacetin in a twin‐screw extruder. ABSTRACT A lichen‐derived natural material, known as “höllük” in southeastern Turkey, is introduced as a renewable filler for polylactic acid (PLA).

Spent Artemisia arborescens as a Biowaste Filler for Melt‐Processed PBSA Biocomposites With Enhanced Disintegration and Aerobic Biodegradation

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Spent Artemisia arborescens biomass, recovered after essential‐oil steam distillation, was ground and melt‐compounded with PBSA (10 and 20 wt%), yielding biocomposites with accelerated biodegradation. ABSTRACT Artemisia arborescens is a Mediterranean shrub widely used for essential oil production, generating significant amounts of spent biomass after ...

Direct extraction of functional whitened lignocellulose from wood via isocyanate modification in water–ethanol mixture

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Direct extraction of lignocellulose from wood derivatives was achieved by introducing a bulky isocyanate substituent to lignin in a water–ethanol mixture. This process exploits the tunable solvent affinity of lignin to achieve its whitening, enabling the isolation of lignocellulose.

Capsicum chinense as an African traditional vegetable: Culture, resilience, and opportunity

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Capsicum chinense is central to everyday diets, cultural identity, and smallholder livelihoods across Sub‐Saharan Africa, yet remains overlooked in agricultural research and policy. This paper reframes C. chinense as a traditional, climate‐resilient vegetable shaped by centuries of farmer stewardship and cultural selection.

Enhancement strategies for photo-fermentative biohydrogen production: A review

Bioresource Technology, 2021
Biohydrogen production by photo fermentation is an attractive clean energy production approach with less environmental pollution and higher substrate conversion. In recent years, various measures have been used to improve biohydrogen production performance, but there is a lack of systematic and comprehensive summary and analysis.
