Analysis of photobioreactors in series

Mathematical Biosciences, 2018
A photobioreactor (PBR) contains microalgae which under illumination consume carbon dioxide and substrate dissolved in water, and produce oxygen. The process is used in water recovery resource facilities with a continuous flow of wastewaster through the PBR. With several PBRs in series the reduction of substrate can be improved.

Tubular Photobioreactors

2015
Considerable progress has been made in the past decade in developing the appropriate biotechnology for microalgal mass cultivation aimed at establishing a new agro-industry. However, until today economic constraints currently limit the industrial exploitation of microalgae for feed, food and biofuel production.

Online Biomass Estimation in a Raceway Photobioreactor

2023 IEEE 28th International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA), 2023
Microalgae reactors provide an efficient alternative for production of biogas/biofuel, nutrition/pharmaceutics products, etc. Among the many variables involved in the dynamic models, the biomass concentration is a key variable for monitoring and control purposes.

Photobioreactors for Microalgal Biofuel Production

2012
Many different PBR designs have been proposed for biofuel production, few of them have been tested at pilot-scale, none developed at the (large) scale necessary for a complete and correct evaluation. Thus the main issues that impact on the reactor's performance (i.e., suitable construction materials, efficient mixing, heating/cooling, CO2 supply and ...
