X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...

Strongly coupled plasmon-exciton polaritons for photobleaching suppression

open access: yesNanophotonics
Strong light–matter interactions have received a lot of attention, for example in the pursuit of plasmonic-excitonic structures as coherent light sources with low-power threshold.

Dissolved organic matter photolysis in Canadian arctic thaw ponds

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2013
The abundant thaw lakes and ponds in the circumarctic receive a new pool of organic carbon as permafrost peat soils degrade, which can be exposed to significant irradiance that potentially increases as climate warms and ice cover shortens.

Efficient virus-induced gene silencing in Brassica rapa using a turnip yellow mosaic virus vector

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2018
Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a post-transcriptional gene silencing method used for unraveling gene functions. As an attractive alternative to mutant collections or stable transgenic plants, it has been widely used in reverse-genetics studies ...

Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching in Ultrathin Polymer Films

open access: yes, 2017
Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) is a widely used technique to study transport of molecules in biological systems. Recently, FRAP has been used to study molecular transport in polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs).

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.

Estimating numbers of intracellular molecules through analysing fluctuations in photobleaching

open access: yes, 2019
The impact of fluorescence microscopy has been limited by the difficulties of expressing measurements of fluorescent proteins in numbers of molecules. Absolute numbers enable the integration of results from different laboratories, empower mathematical ...

A Versatile Microfluidic Extrusion‐Based Hydrogel Platform for Self‐Organization and Long‐Term Maintenance of Engineered 3D Lymphatic Endothelium

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microfluidic coaxial extrusion generates size‐controlled 3D lymphatic tubes from primary human dermal lymphatic endothelial cells in a defined four‐component matrix. These engineered vessels self‐organize into stable lymphatic endothelium, maintain selective macromolecular permeability for 30 days, and enable direct comparison with blood endothelial ...
