Photocatalytic hydrogen production
Chemical Communications, 2011The efficient storage of solar energy in chemical fuels, such as hydrogen, is essential for the large-scale utilisation of solar energy systems. Recent advances in the photocatalytic production of H(2) are highlighted. Two general approaches for the photocatalytic hydrogen generation by homogeneous catalysts are considered: HX (X = Cl, Br) splitting ...

Photocatalytic Air Purification
Recent Patents on Engineering, 2010Titanium dioxide represents an effective photocatalyst for destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOC), NOx and SO2 in indoor and outdoor air. The mechanism of selected pollutants removal as well as the dependence of reaction rate on some key influencing factors are discussed.

Photocatalytic soil decontamination
Chemosphere, 1992Abstract A photocatalytic treatment is evaluated for the decontamination of soils containing 2-chlorophenol, 2,7-dichlorodibenzodioxin and atrazine. In the laboratory the contaminated soils were mixed with a photocatalyst (TiO2) in a aqueous slurry (up to 60 g L−1 of solid mixture) and exposed to simulated solar radiation.

Photocatalytic Degradation of Phenol
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2003In this study photocatalytic degradation of phenol in the presence of UV irradiated TiO2 catalyst and H2O2 was investigated. Effects of TiO2 and H2O2 concentrations and pH on photocatalytic degradation were examined. The rate constants for photocatalytic degradation were evaluated as a function of TiO2 and H2O2 concentrations and pH of the solution. It

Photocatalytic nanofiltration reactors
2005Potable, industrial, and wastewaters are often polluted by toxic organic species.Environmental laws are now very severe and they will become more and morerestrictive in coming years; in addition, various directives suggest the use of greenchemistry concepts and clean technologies to protect the environment. Classicalmethods (e.g.

PHOTOCATALYTIC MEMBRANE REACTORS
2008Heterogeneous photocatalysis is a promising technique for the abatement of organic and inorganic pollutants. This method is based on particular properties of semiconductor materials that irradiated with light of suitable energy (i.e. equal or higher than that of the band gap) can promote electrons from the valence to the conduction band with the ...

Photocatalytic glass is described in all its characteristics. Differences between plain and functionalized glass are highlighted, along with all the tasks concerning the deposition of a transparent and photoactive on glass. Optical properties, superhydrophilicity and retention of self-cleaning properties are deeply analyzed.
