Synthesis, Photochromism and Photoinduced Anisotropy of a New Photochromic Diarylethene

2009 Pacific-Asia Conference on Circuits, Communications and Systems, 2009
A new unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene compound, 1-[2-methyl-5-(3-methoxylphenyl)-3-thienyl]-2-[2-methyl-5-(3-methylphenyl)-3-thienyl]perfluoro -cyclopentene (1a), was synthesized and its photochromism and photo-induced anisotropy were investigated.

Photochromics

Physics Today, 1970
A GREEN MATERIAL MAY TURN BLUE; a pale blue material may turn purple and a white material may turn red as different colors of light shine upon them. This photochromic effect is a property of certain types of inorganic materials. Among those that have been studied are single crystals of calcium fluoride doped with rare-earth elements, and strontium ...

Synthesis and Photochromism of Novel Phenylene-Linked Photochromic Bispyrans

Organic Letters, 2005
[reaction: see text] Phenylene-linked bisnaphthopyrans were synthesized in good yields via the one-pot reaction of bis-propargyl alcohols with naphthols. Temperature-dependent photochromism in 1,4-phenylene-linked bispyrans leads to up to 60 nm bathochromic shift between the colored species formed at room temperature and at -20 degrees C.

Photochromic quantum dots

Izvestiya vysshikh uchebnykh zavedenii. Fizika, 2021
The analysis of the results of fundamental and applied research in the field of creation of photochromic nanoparticles of the "core-shell" type, in which semiconductor nanocrystals - quantum dots were used as a core, and the shell included physically or chemically sorbed molecules of photochromic thermally relaxing (spiropyrans, spirooxazines ...

A new photochromic tetrahydroindolizine

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2004
The title compound, dimethyl 10b'-(4-fluorostyryl)-8',9'-dimethoxy-4-nitro-5',6'-dihydrospiro[9H-fluorene-9,1'(10b'H)-pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline]-2',3'-dicarboxylate, C38H31FN2O8, is a new photochromic tetrahydroindolizine. One of the C-C bonds at the spiro C atom is very long [1.630 (2) A], thus explaining the photochromic behaviour.

Photochromism of Salicylidene Aniline

Applied Optics, 1968
Photochromic properties of two crystalline forms of salicylidene aniline have been investigated, emphasizing properties not previously evaluated. A broad band with maximum absorbance at 480 mmu is induced by near uv radiation; 380 mmu is most effective.

Complementarity in bimolecular photochromism

Chemical Communications, 2005
Irradiating 2,3,6,7-tetraphenylanthracene in the presence of 9,10-dimethylanthracene leads to exclusive formation of the cross-dimer. No photochemical reaction is observed when either of these chromophores is irradiated in the absence of the other.
