Dual‐Mode Ion‐Pair Charge‐Transfer Organic Nanoparticles From Fluorescent Viologens for Amine Sensing and Encrypted Data Storage

open access: yesAggregate
To overcome the intrinsic drawbacks of conventional viologens, such as slow optical response and poor radical stability, we synthesized a series of viologen derivatives (BTV, NTV, and STV) by incorporating thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole units into bipyridine ...

Photochromic Molybdate for Advancing Anode Capacity of Lithium-Ion Battery. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Photochromic polyoxomolybdate is first used to enhance the anode capacity and rate performance of Li‐ion batteries. Abstract Decoupling strategies can effectively enhance lithium‐ion battery (LIB) capacity, but suffer from the need for complex equipment, preventing widespread applicability. This work offers, for the first time, a decoupling strategy of

Structural tuning of β-enamino diketones: exploration of solution and crystalline state photochromism

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2023
A library of β-enamino diketones was prepared via base-mediated, three-component reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarins with various aromatic/aliphatic amines and β-nitrostyrenes under microwave irradiation conditions to investigate their photochemical ...

Mechanism of charge accumulation of poly(heptazine imide) gel

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Photo-stimuli response in materials is a fascinating feature with many potential applications. A photoresponsive gel of poly(heptazine imide), PHI, termed PHIG, exhibits photochromism, photoconductivity, and photo-induced charge accumulation, and is ...

Photochromic property of cerium oxide nanoparticles prepared by dialysis of solution of cerium nitrate

open access: yesResults in Chemistry, 2022
CeO2 nanoparticles were obtained by heating 50 mL of 0.1 M Ce(NO3) 3·6H2O solution mixed with 5 mL of 1 M NH3 aq. at 368 K for 24 h. When H2O and ethanol were used as solvents for cerium nitrate hydrate, obtained CeO2 nanoparticles were aggregated.

Absolute measurement of cellular activities using photochromic single-fluorophore biosensors and intermittent quantification

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Genetically-encoded biosensors based on a single fluorescent protein are widely used to visualize analyte levels or enzymatic activities in cells, though usually to monitor relative changes rather than absolute values.

Photochromism in inorganic crystallised compounds

open access: yesOptical Materials: X, 2021
Photochromism is a phenomenon describing the irradiation-induced reversible transformation of a chemical compound's colour between two states (dubbed as colour switch). This review makes an up-to-date account of inorganic photochromic compounds.

Simultaneous readout of multiple FRET pairs using photochromism

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Performing multiple FRET measurements at once can be challenging. Here the authors report a method to discriminate between overlapping FRET pairs, even if the fluorophores display almost identical absorption and emission spectra, based on the ...

Photochromism from wavelength-selective colloidal phase segregation

open access: yesNature, 2023
A simple spectral selective active colloidal system is designed in which TiO_2 colloidal species are coded with dyes to form a photochromic swarm that adapts the appearance of incident light due to layered phase segregation.
