Applications of polystyrene/graphite composites in water purification as a semiconductor visible-light photocatalyst for organic pollutant degradation

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2019
The aim of this study was to prepare a polymer/graphite composite thin film as a cheap, and nontoxic photocatalyst that could be activated by visible light. It was characterized using ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometry and X-ray diffraction.

Two Material Properties from One Wavelength‐Orthogonal Photoresin Enabled by a Monochromatic Laser Integrated Stereolithographic Apparatus (Mono LISA)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A single object with dual properties – degradable and non‐degradable – is fabricated in a single print simply by switching the printing colors. The advanced multi‐material printing is enabled by the combination of a fully wavelength‐orthogonal photoresin and a monochromatic tunable laser printer, paving the way for precise multi‐material ...

Photodegradation of Diquat in water under UV irradiation: Identification of transformation products and elucidation of photodegradation pathway

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
In aquatic settings, photodegradation is a significant non-biodegradation method of pesticide degradation. In this investigation, the photodegradation of the herbicide Diquat in aqueous solution was examined under distinct conditions and concentrations ...

Photodegradable Toners for Electrophotography I. Photodegradability of Matrix Resin [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Journal, 1996
In this study we copolymerized phenyl isopropenyl ketone into the known toner resin for electrophotography and measured spectral and molecular weight changes as well as photodegradability by mid/near or deep UV ...

De Rerum Natura: How Do Halide Perovskites Self‐Heal From Damage?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
How can lead‐halide‐perovskites self‐heal after damage from light, heat, mechanical strain, or radiation? We show that reversible chemical defects underly performance losses and recovery, highlighting the roles of halide and proton migration, redox‐driven reactions, and acid‐base equilibria.

Photochemical Fuel Carrier Molecules for Robotic Embodied Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We designed a novel fuel carrier photoresponsive molecule for on‐demand energy storage and release. Carrier molecules undergo bond scission under UV light to release chemical fuel and locally generate propulsive Marangoni flows. We demonstrate this photochemical embodied energy strategy in small‐scale robots and active matter systems, enabling ...

Laser‐Synthesized Amorphous PdSe2‐x Nanoparticles: A Defect‐Rich Platform for High‐Efficiency SERS, Photocatalysis, and Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Using femtosecond ablation, we show that an ordered, stoichiometric crystalline PdSe2 target can be controllably converted into a stable, disordered, non‐stoichiometric, and highly functional amorphous nanomaterial, PdSe2−x${\rm PdSe}_{2-x}$. The obtained nanoparticles offer significant advantages over conventional planar plasmon‐free substrates due to

Effect of 1,4-Napthaquinone (NQ) and benzophenone (BPH)on the photodegradation and biodegradation of methyl cellulose film

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2010
The induced photodegradation of methyl cellulose (MC) films in air was investigated in the absence and presence of aromatic carbonyl compounds(photosenssitizers): 1,4-naphthaquinone (NQ) and benzophenone (BPH) by accelerated weathering tester.
