Photodynamic inactivation of poliovirus

Virology, 1963
Abstract Poliovirus, as usually found in fluids of infected cultures, cannot be inactivated photodynamically in the presence of heterotricyclic dyes. However, if the mature virus is freed of extraneous organic material, dyes can attach to the virus and render it light-sensitive.

Photodynamic Inactivation of Enteroviruses

Journal of Bacteriology, 1965
Wallis, Craig (Baylor University College of Medicine, Houston, Tex.), and Joseph L. Melnick . Photodynamic inactivation of enteroviruses. J. Bacteriol. 89: 41–46. 1965.—Enteroviruses are usually resistant to photodynamic inactivation, but they can be rendered completely ...

Photodynamic Inactivation of Herpes Simplex Keratitis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1974
Bilateral herpes simplex keratitis was induced in rabbit corneas. The infected corneas were treated with either neutral red dye followed by exposure to fluorescent light or with idoxuridine ointment. Dye-light treatment produced a faster cure rate than idoxuridine.

Photodynamic Inactivation in Experimental Herpetic Keratitis

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1975
The effect of photodynamic inactivation on experimental herpes simplex keratitis in rabbits was investigated using neutral red as a photosensitizing dye followed by exposure to light at 425nm. Combined dye application and light exposure early in the disease (two days following infection) reduced to a minimal extent the severity and duration of the ...

PHOTODYNAMIC INACTIVATION OF LYSOZYME BY EOSIN

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1973
Abstract— It has been demonstrated that singlet oxygen is the major oxidizing entity in the photo‐dynamic inactivation of hen egg white lysozyme by eosin, using D2O to enhance the solvent‐induced decay lifetime, and azide ion as a specific scavenger.

Photodynamic inactivation of simian immunodeficiency virus

Journal of Virological Methods, 1989
A photodynamic flow system employing a dihematoporphyrin ether (DHE) was tested for its ability to inactivate the in vitro infectivity of simian immunodeficiency virus (SICMac) at 630 +/- 5 nm with a light fluence of 5 J/cm2. Cell-free SIVMac was inactivated by photoactivated hematoporphyrin derivative in a dose-dependent fashion.
