Photodynamic inactivation of fibroblasts by a cationic porphyrin

Lasers in Medical Science, 2005
An important determinant of the clinical applicability and value of antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation (PDI) is the cytotoxicity of the treatment to human cells. We evaluated the in vitro cytotoxicity of PDI to human dermal fibroblasts using 5-phenyl-10,15,20-tris(N-methyl-4-pyridyl)porphyrin chloride (TriP[4]) as the photosensitiser.

PHOTODYNAMIC INACTIVATION OF AN ION CHANNEL: GRAMICIDIN A

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1992
Abstract— The ion channel formed by the peptide gramicidin A in planar lipid membranes is inactivated by visible light in the presence of the photosensitizer Rose Bengal. This is concluded from the strong decrease of the membrane conductance by more than two orders of magnitude.Experiments performed at different oxygen concentrations, in the presence ...

Reactivation of photodynamically inactivated lambda phages

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1968
UV-irradiated λc phages show a lower survival when plated on rec −-cells as compared to rec +-cells. Photodynamically inactivated λc phages show the lowest survival on hcr −; rec −-cells. The rec-functions do not influence the repair of UV- or photodynamically induced lesions in T1 phages.
