Covalent Micropatterning of Poly(dimethylsiloxane) by Photografting through a Mask

Analytical Chemistry, 2005
A new photografting method to micropattern a covalent surface modification on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) provides advantages in simplicity and efficiency. To accomplish the entire process on the benchtop, the PDMS was initially treated with benzophenone dissolved in a water/acetone mixture.

Bulk surface photografting process and its applications. II. Principal factors affecting surface photografting

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
The photografting polymerization reactivity of various monomers which can undergo free-radical chain polymerization is examined with benzophenone (BP) as the photoinitiator and LDPE film as the substrate. The results show that acrylate monomers have the highest photopolymerization and photografting reactivities, whereas methacrylate monomers have low ...

Preparation of a bipolar membrane by photografting polymerization

Frontiers of Chemistry in China, 2008
A single-sheet bipolar membrane was synthesized via photografting polymerization of an acrylic acid cation exchange layer onto the surface of a commercial homogeneous anion exchange membrane with benzophenone (BP) as the main initiator, diphenyl (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)-phosphine oxide (TPO) and 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-propanone (1173) as ...

Photografting of acrylic monomers on polystyrene support

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1992
AbstractPolystyrene xanthates, prepared through the reaction of chloromethylated polystyrene resins with potassium O‐ethyl xanthate, have been used for the photografting of acrylic monomers. Monomers such as acrylamide, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, and methyl methacrylate were grafted onto the xanthate polymers on irradiation with a 450 W medium ...

Photografting Processes onto Polymers

1989
Chemical or physical modification of the surface properties of polymeric materials is undoubtedly a fascinating field for research as well as a practical way to improve their value. Surface and not bulk properties determine the most relevant aspects of the behaviour in many technologically important fields, such as dyeing, printing, adhesion, membrane ...

Electroless Deposition of Nickel on Photografted Polymeric Microscale Patterns

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2016
This report demonstrates the electroless deposition of Ni onto micropatterns of poly (acrylic acid) (PAA) photografted to phthalimide‐terminated self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs). PAA is spin‐coated onto phthalimide SAMs and covered with a photomask.

Biomimetic apatite formation on polyethylene photografted with vinyltrimethoxysilane and hydrolyzed

Biomaterials, 2001
A photografting technique to produce functional groups of silanol able to induce apatite nucleation was attempted on polyethylene substrate for biomimetic formation of bone-mineral-like apatite layer on its surface. The polyethylene surface was subjected to vapor-phase photografting of vinyltrimethoxysilane and subsequently to hydrolysis.

An electrogenerated poly(pyrrole-benzophenone) film for the photografting of proteins

Chemical Communications, 2003
A photoreactive organic polymer was prepared by oxidative electrochemical polymerization of a pyrrole-benzophenone derivative on conductive surfaces; the resulting polypyrrolic film allowed, upon irradiation, the reagentless covalent grafting of proteins.

Synthesis and characterisation of some new photografted polycarbonates

Polymer Photochemistry, 1984
Abstract Several copolycarbonates of bisphenol-A (I) and 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl ethane) (II) containing different percentages of II have been prepared. Acrylonitrile monomer has been successfully grafted on these copolymers via the chlorinated group (−CCl 3 ) by photochemical reaction using Mn 2 (CO) 10 as a catalyst in the presence

Surface photografting of arylazide derivatives on chalcogenide glasses

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2014
Arylazide derivatives have been used for the surface functionalization of chalcogenide glasses. These compounds are photografted by a deposition step followed by an irradiation step under UV light. Two photosensitive molecules were studied: the so-called "molecular clip" which is a phenylazide moiety linked via a propylene chain to a succinimidyl ester
