Altitude Dependence of Quasi‐Static Potential Drop: The Effect of Ionospheric Protons
Abstract Using an improved kinetic model that incorporates cold ionospheric protons and oxygen ions, we investigate the factors controlling the altitude range of the auroral acceleration region (AAR). In this model, parallel electric fields are generated via Dispersive Alfven Wave‐ Modified electron Acoustic Wave (DAW‐MEAW) coupling and sustained by ...

5s photoionization cross section of atomic Ba
Figure 1. 5s photoionization cross section of atomic Ba. Abstract The photoionization of Ba 5s in the high-energy Cooper minimum region has been investigated using the relativistic-random-phase approximation and the relativistic-random-phase ...

Abstract The upper thermosphere is important in the context of space weather, but continuous monitoring of the thermosphere at high latitudes remains limited despite its strong variations associated with geomagnetic activity. Orthohelium, He(23S), is found from the upper thermosphere to lower exosphere, and is a promising tracer of atmospheric dynamics.

Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

VUV-photoionization of laser-excited atoms
Recent results on the VUV-photoionization of laser-excited atoms obtained by photoelectron spectroscopy are reviewed. There are two groups of experiments: In the first group electron correlation phenomena, especially satellite emission, are studied in ...

A theoretical study on the photoionization of the valence orbitals of phosphine
We report a theoretical study on the photoionization of phosphine in the static-exchange level and frozen core approximation, using the method of continued fractions.

Ultrafast charge redistribution in small iodine containing molecules
We present studies on intra-molecular charge redistribution in iodine containing molecules upon iodine-4d photoionization. For this, we employed an XUV-pump-XUV-probe scheme based on time-delayed femtosecond pulses delivered by the free-electron laser at

Measurement of Photoionization Rates in Air
The ionization of gas molecules from the absorption of photons produced in different parts of a discharge is an important process in the development of streamers.

Plant metabolites exhibit a variety of different chemical properties, physiological activities, and biological functions. However, untargeted imaging of highly diverse metabolic profiles is still a great challenge.

Refractive index dispersion measurement using carrier-envelope phasemeters
We introduce a novel method for direct and accurate measurement of refractive index dispersion based on carrier-envelope phase detection of few-cycle laser pulses, exploiting the difference between phase and group velocity in a dispersive medium.
