The Locus Coeruleus‐Periaqueductal Gray GABAergic Projection Regulates Comorbid Pain and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LC‐GABA neurons exhibit elevated activity to noxious and aversive stimuli in chronic pain, and their activation alleviates pain‐ and depression‐like behaviors. While LC‐GABA neurons target LC‐NA neurons and GABA and Glu neurons in the vlPAG, they modulate the pain responses of LC‐NA neurons but regulate pain‐ and depression‐like behaviors through their

The Slow‐Rotating Nucleus of Comet C/2013 R1 (Lovejoy)

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The close approach of comet C/2013 R1 (Lovejoy) allowed us to conduct an in‐depth study of the morphology of the inner coma. From the measurement of the dust emission structures expanding near the cometary nucleus in November–December 2013, we derived a slow rotation period of 47.8±1.2$$ 47.8\pm 1.2 $$ h.

Unlocking the secrets of stellar haloes using combined star counts and surface photometry

open access: yes, 2012
The stellar haloes of galaxies can currently be studied either through observations of resolved halo stars or through surface photometry. Curiously, the two methods appear to give conflicting results, as a number of surface photometry measurements have ...

Infrared Variability of the Gliese 569B System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Gliese 569B is a multiple brown dwarf system whose exact nature has been the subject of several investigations over the past few years. Interpretation has partially relied on infra-red photometry and spectroscopy of the resolved components of the system.

A Slowly Pulsating Run‐Away B Star at High Galactic Latitude Ejected From a Spiral Arm

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We report the discovery of the young B6 V run‐away star LAMOST J083323.18 + 430825.4, 2.5 kpc above the Galactic plane. Its atmospheric parameters and chemical composition are determined from LAMOST spectra, indicating normal composition. Effective temperature (Teff$$ {T}_{\mathrm{eff}} $$ = 14,500$$ \mathrm{14,500} $$ K) and gravity (logg ...

Gaia Search for Stellar Companions of TESS Objects of Interest V

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we present the latest results of our ongoing multiplicity survey of (Community) TESS Objects of Interest, using astrometry and photometry from the latest data release of the ESA Gaia mission to detect stellar companions of these stars and to characterize their properties.

Photometric Confirmation of MACHO Large Magellanic Cloud Microlensing Events

open access: yes, 2005
We present previously unpublished photometry of three Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) microlensing events and show that the new photometry confirms the microlensing interpretation of these events.

On the Age Distribution of Classical Cepheids in the Galaxy

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We revisit the problem of the positive correlation between age and Galactocentric distance seen in Galactic Classical Cepheids, which at first sight may seem counter‐intuitive in the context of inside‐out galaxy formation. To explain it, we use the Besançon Galaxy Model and a simulation of star particles in the Galactic disc coupled with ...

Correction factor for real-time determination of wood dust mass concentration by photometric method

open access: yesDrvna Industrija, 2009
Samples of wood dust were collected in the working environment of wood machining processes for the purpose of determining correction factors for measuring mass concentration of wood dust by photometric method.
