Bioavailability of Magnesium and Potassium Salts Used as Potential Substitutes for Sodium Chloride in Human Nutrition — A Review

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
A high intake of sodium chloride contributes to hypertension. This review evaluates the bioavailability of potassium and magnesium salts as sodium chloride alternatives. Potassium chloride and citrate, as well as magnesium citrate and chloride, show good absorption.

Optical Photometry of the GRB 010222 Afterglow

open access: yes, 2001
The optical afterglow of GRB 010222 was observed using the recently installed 2-m telescope at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, Hanle, and the telescopes at the Vainu Bappu Observatory, Kavalur, beginning ~ 0.6 day after the detection of the event.

Reduced osmoresponsiveness in magnocellular neuroendocrine neurones during chronic salt‐loading

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We conducted a large systematic survey of the physiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the magnocellular neurosecretory neurones of the supraoptic nucleus in euhydrated and salt‐loaded conditions. Our in vivo electrophysiological recordings show that, after 7 days of salt‐loading, the neuronal responsiveness to ...

Directly Imaged L-T Transition Exoplanets in the Mid-Infrared [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Gas-giant planets emit a large fraction of their light in the mid-infrared ($\gtrsim$3$\mu$m), where photometry and spectroscopy are critical to our understanding of the bulk properties of extrasolar planets. Of particular importance are the L and M-band

Affordable phenomics: Expanding access to enhancing genetic gain in plant breeding

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 8, Issue 1, December 2025.
Abstract Plant breeders need to evaluate large breeding populations rapidly and accurately to identify and assess genetic variation responsible for many traits, including yield, quality, resistance, and climate resilience. Although advanced molecular tools, including marker‐assisted selection, genomic selection, and gene editing, are being used to ...

Polarimetry and photometry of the peculiar main-belt object 7968 = 133P/Elst-Pizarro

open access: yes, 2010
133P/Elst-Pizarro is an object that has been described as either an active asteroid or a cometary object in the main asteroid belt. Here we present a photometric and polarimetric study of this object in an attempt to infer additional information about ...

Drug‐Related Engrams and Their Role in the Persistence and Recurrence of Drug‐Related Behaviors

open access: yesHippocampus, Volume 35, Issue 6, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Memory is a cornerstone of human behavior, and addiction offers a compelling model of its persistence and plasticity. The scope of engram research has rapidly expanded to include addiction‐related phenomena. Addiction‐related memories, like strong aversive memories, are often highly resistant to extinction and can continue to drive relapse ...

Reaction of N‐Ferrocenylcarbamates with Nitric Oxide: An Application for Detection of Inflammatory Sites In Vivo

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 19, October 6, 2025.
Nitric oxide induces decomposition of electron‐deficient aminoferrocene drugs 4 with formation of oxime 7, which is derived from the upper cyclopentadienyl ligand. Drugs 4 are not responsive to hydrogen peroxide. Based on the latter reaction, the fluorogenic probes are developed for detecting NO in cells and inflammation in vivo.
