Repressors of photomorphogenesis

2002
The internal programs of plant development are informed in a profound way by environmental light conditions. This review summarizes the contribution of repressor proteins to the light-signaling machinery during seedling development, and discusses the integration of repressors with other, positively acting, light-signaling pathways and auxin and ...

Peroxisomes and Photomorphogenesis

2013
In higher plants, light-grown seedlings exhibit photomorphogenesis, a developmental program controlled by a complex web of interactions between photoreceptors, central repressors, and downstream effectors that leads to changes in gene expression and physiological changes. Light induces peroxisomal proliferation through a phytochrome A-mediated pathway,

Promotion of photomorphogenesis by COP1

Plant Molecular Biology, 2004
CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1 (COP1) represses photomorphogenesis in darkness by targeting nuclear-localized transcription factors to proteasome-mediated degradation. Upon light exposure, COP1 migrates to the cytosol allowing photomorphogenesis to proceed but the residual nuclear pool down-regulates light signaling mediated by phytochrome A.

A genetic approach to photomorphogenesis

1986
The transduction chain from photoperception to the ultimate observed physiological response involves many steps, most of which are in themselves not light regulated. Until recently, photomorphogenesis has been studied mainly by applying light treatments and observing their ultimate effects.

Phytochrome and Photomorphogenesis in Plants

Nature, 1970
Much of the information available about the behaviour of phytochrome in plants can be brought together into a model involving association of the pigment with membranes.

PHOTOMORPHOGENESIS IN PLANTS

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1990
It is perhaps not surprising that plants have evolved a mechanism to sense the light environment about them and to modify growth for optimal use of the available life-giving' light. Green plants, and ultimately all forms of life, depend on the energy of sunlight fixed during photosynthesis.
