Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

Photoluminescent Color Centers on a Mainstream Silicon Photonic Foundry Platform
Silicon photonic chips route and process light efficiently but are inherently inefficient at generating it. Here, bright light‐emitting defects, W‐centers, are written into the silicon layer of finished chips from a mainstream commercial foundry: high‐energy ions are implanted straight through the protective oxide and activated by a 250∘C$^\circ{\rm C}$

The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.
