General model of photon-pair detection with an image sensor

open access: yes, 2018
We develop an analytic model that relates intensity correlation measurements performed by an image sensor to the properties of photon pairs illuminating it.

Photoconductivity‐Driven Quantum Efficiency Gain in Inorganic Ruddlesden‐Popper Layered Cs2PbBr2I2 Perovskite Photodetector for Visible Light Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rational halogen mixing strategy was employed to shift the bandgap of Cs2PbBr2I2 from ultraviolet to visible region, enabling first realization of a visible‐light photodetector with this 2D layered Ruddlesden‐Popper perovskite material. Under illumination, light‐induced internal field forms and drives trap‐mediated persistent photoconductivity ...

Squeezing and Dual Recycling in Laser Interferometric Gravitational Wave Detectors

open access: yes, 1994
We calculate the response of an ideal Michelson interferometer incorporating both dual recycling and squeezed light to gravitational waves. The photon counting noise has contributions from the light which is sent in through the input ports as well as the

A Programmable Semiconductor Containing Active Molecular Photoswitches Located in the Crystal's Volume Phase

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel approach for the design of functional semiconductors is presented, which utilizes the excellent optoelectronic properties of layered hybrid perovskites and the possibility to introduce a molecular photoswitch as the organic spacer. This concept is successfully demonstrated on a coumarin‐based system with the possibility to change the bandgap ...

True photo-counting statistics of multiple on-off detectors

open access: yes, 2012
We derive a closed photo-counting formula, including noise counts and a finite quantum efficiency, for photon number resolving detectors based on on-off detectors. It applies to detection schemes such as array detectors and multiplexing setups.

Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

Ultrastable Photoactive Halide Perovskite Nanocrystal‐Sensitized SnO2 Nanorods for Room‐Temperature NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metal oxide (MOx)‐based NO2 gas sensors typically require high temperatures or ultraviolet light, limiting their practical use. To enable visible‐light activation at room temperature, efficient and stable photosensitizers should be integrated with nanostructured MOx hosts.

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Unified single-photon and single-electron counting statistics: from cavity-QED to electron transport

open access: yes, 2010
A key ingredient of cavity quantum-electrodynamics (QED) is the coupling between the discrete energy levels of an atom and photons in a single-mode cavity.
