Silicon Photonic Crystal Fiber

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
A hollow-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) made of silicon is reported for the first time. The fiber is obtained by converting silica fiber to porous silicon using magnesiothermic reduction.

Photonic Crystal Fiber IFOGs

Optical Fiber Sensors, 2006
We have built and tested an interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope made with photonic crystal fiber. This paper reports the test results and examines the advantages of photonic crystal fiber for this type of gyroscope.

Photonic Crystal Fibers challenge

Proceedings of the International Conference on Computer Systems and Technologies and Workshop for PhD Students in Computing, 2009
The paper describes some kinds of Photonic Crystal Fibers and their features. The problems of attenuation of the PCF in connection with their properties and design are discussed. An analytical method for calculating the attenuation and dispersion of the spreading modes of Bragg fibers, represented as a multilayer dielectric structure, is proposed.

Modeling of photonic crystal fibers

2007 19th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2007
This paper presents an analysis and an overview of characteristics and possible applications of periodic and quasi-periodic photonic crystal fibers (PCF). The analysis is based on the decomposition of the transverse electric field into a series of orthogonal modes which are used to solve the vector wave equation for optical fibers.

Infrared photonic crystal fiber

Applied Physics Letters, 2003
An infrared photonic crystal fiber has been made by multiple extrusions of silver halide (AgClxBr1−x) crystalline materials. The core of the fiber consisted of pure AgBr, and the cladding area included fiberoptic elements made of AgCl (with lower refractive index).

Photonic crystal fiber devices

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have been receiving increasing attention over the past few years. They are single material fibers that use an array of air holes in the cladding to confine light to a core, instead of the more usual refractive index step within the solid material of a conventional fiber.

Tapered photonic crystal fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
Tapered photonic crystal fibers (PCFs), similar to tapered conventional fibers, can be either adiabatic of nonadiabatic. Here, we examine the adiabaticity of the PCF taper and obtain three-dimensional plots showing the evolution of power flow inside the tapered PCF. Also, we analyze different taper shapes, such as the linear taper, raised-cosine taper,

Photonic Crystal Optical Fibers

2009
Chapter 7 gives an idea of computation of principal characteristics of the photonic crystal fibers (PCF). Similarities and distinctions between PCF and conventional optical fibers are considered. The first part of the chapter deals with theoretical relations and characteristics of conventional fibers.
