Merging of defect modes in a superlattice of one-dimensional metamaterials photonic crystals
The optical properties are investigated in a new type of one-dimensional photonic crystal, which consists of two-layer unit cells. The first layer consists of a material with a negative refractive index (NIM) and the other is made of AlxGa1−xAs with a ...

Design of flexible ultrahigh-Q microcavities in diamond-based photonic crystal slabs
We design extremely flexible ultrahigh-Q diamond-based double-heterostructure photonic crystal slab cavities by modifying the refractive index of the diamond.

Inspired by octopuses, actuating legs based on soft materials are fabricated with programmed chiroptical properties and mechanical behaviors to achieve dynamic color modulation and reversible shape morphing, and these legs are developed into a modular OCTOID system.

Frozen light in periodic metamaterials [PDF]
Wave propagation in spatially periodic media, such as photonic crystals, can be qualitatively different from any uniform substance. The differences are particularly pronounced when the electromagnetic wavelength is comparable to the primitive translation

Photo‐Reconfigurable Supercoupling Induced Transparency in On‐Chip Topological Edge State Cavities
A novel supercoupling induced transparency (SIT) is demonstrated in a valley‐Hall photonic crystal. The valley vortices enable the supercoupling between a leaky and a guided topological edge state cavity even across a distance of 4.3 wavelengths, inducing a transparency window with negligible reflection.

Linear and nonlinear capacitive coupling of electro-opto-mechanical photonic crystal cavities [PDF]
We fabricate and characterize a microscale silicon electro-opto-mechanical system whose mechanical motion is coupled capacitively to an electrical circuit and optically via radiation pressure to a photonic crystal cavity.

This Review proposes an interface‐centric framework for large‐area 2D materials integration, linking wafer‐scale single‐crystal epitaxy, clean transfer and deterministic stacking, and interface‐dominated structure–property–device correlations. We summarize how interfacial symmetry and energetics govern nucleation/coalescence and adhesion‐controlled ...
