Reflectance measurement of two-dimensional photonic crystal nanocavities with embedded quantum dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The spectra of two-dimensional photonic crystal slab nanocavities with embedded InAs quantum dots are measured by photoluminescence and reflectance.

Design and analysis of a 2D photonic crystal based parallelogram-shaped cavity with open corners for optical switching [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
In this paper, we designed a 2×2 optical switch using a two- dimensional photonic crystal (2D PC) based on interference principle. For the first time, an air-hole slab-structure-based photonic switch is proposed.

Sensitivity enhancement in photonic crystal slab biosensors

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
Refractive index sensitivity of guided resonances in photonic crystal slabs is analyzed. We show that modal properties of guided resonances strongly affect spectral sensitivity and quality factors, resulting in substantial enhancement of refractive index sensitivity.

1D photonic crystal filled with low-temperature plasma for controlling broadband microwave transmission

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
A 1D plasma photonic crystal (PPC) is filled with plasmas and slab dielectrics in a large volume cylindrical glow discharge device. The parameters of the PPC are designed to meet the transmission condition of broadband microwave (1.5GHz-12GHz) according ...

Reconfigurable microfluidic photonic crystal slab cavities

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
We demonstrate the spectral and spatial reconfigurability of photonic crystal double-heterostructure cavities in silicon by microfluidic infiltration of selected air holes. The lengths of the microfluidic cavities are changed by adjusting the region of infiltrated holes in steps of several microns.

Light‐Induced Dispersion of Pd Single Atoms Provides Steady‐State‐Stabilized Activity for Photocatalytic H2 Generation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
High photon flux causes (re)distionpersion of atomic Pd species on TiO2 in photocatalytic experiments, whereas Pt SAs undergo continuous agglormation. This allows light‐driven stabilization of active Pd centers for sustained H2 evolution. ABSTRACT In recent years, the use of single atoms (SAs) has become increasingly significant in photocatalysis ...

Efficient Analysis of Photonic Crystal Slabs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lasers, Optics & Photonics, 2014
In this paper we propose an accelerated plane wave expansion method (PWEM) for calculation of slab photonic crystal (slab PC) modes. In this method instead of creating artificial periodicity in the direction of slab normal and solving the problem as a full 3D one, which is done in standard PWEM, we consider constant coefficients in 2D PWEM as functions

Theory of intrinsic propagation losses in topological edge states of planar photonic crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Using a semianalytic guided-mode expansion technique, we present theory and analysis of intrinsic propagation losses for topological photonic crystal slab waveguide structures with modified honeycomb lattices of circular or triangular holes.

Vertical beaming of wavelength-scale photonic crystal resonators

open access: yes, 2006
We report that $> 80%$ of the photons generated inside a photonic crystal slab resonator can be funneled within a small divergence angle of $\pm 30^\circ$. The far-field radiation properties of a photonic crystal slab resonant mode are modified by tuning

Efficient excitation of self-collimated beams and single Bloch modes in planar photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Using finite-difference time-domain calculations, we investigate out-of-plane coupling between a square-lattice planar photonic crystal and a conventional waveguide located above the photonic crystal.
