Shape Memory Photonic Metamaterial [PDF]
We report the first reconfigurable metamaterial based on the shape memory alloy. In the heating cycle structural elements of this metamaterials exhibit a hysteresis-type shape transformation that leads to non-volatile switching of its plasmonic properties.

Photonic magnetic metamaterial basics [PDF]
In the present study, we provide a detailed analysis for the study of photonic metamaterials. We demonstrate the polarization and orientation dependent transmission response of split ring resonators at the infrared and visible band. We provided optical measurements only for one case, in which electric component of the incident field was coupled to ...

Graphene in a photonic metamaterial
We demonstrate a photonic metamaterial that shows extraordinary sensitivity to the presence of a single atomic layer of graphene on its surface. Metamaterial's optical transmission increases multi-fold at the resonance frequency linked to the Fano-type plasmonic mode supported by the periodic metallic nanostructure.

Holographic free-electron light source
Controlling the generation of light in nano-scale systems is a challenging task and is of growing importance. Here, Li et al. propose a means of controlling the wavefront of light emanating from a single nano scale emitter by holographic principles using

Electro-mechanical light modulator based on controlling the interaction of light with a metasurface
We demonstrate a reflective light modulator, a dynamic Salisbury screen where modulation of light is achieved by moving a thin metamaterial absorber to control its interaction with the standing wave formed by the incident wave and its reflection on a ...

Topological characteristic of Weyl degeneracies in a reciprocal chiral metamaterials system
Being a research hotspot in the field of topological semimetals, Weyl points (WPs) are monopoles of Berry curvature in momentum space. In this paper, we report the existence of photonic Weyl degeneracies in a reciprocal chiral metamaterials system.
