Photochemical and Photophysical Properties of Indoprofen ¶

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2003
The photophysical properties and photochemistry of indoprofen (INP) have been investigated. Absorption and emission spectroscopies in phosphate buffer, ethanol and ether show that INP photophysics is dominated by a singlet-singlet transition of pipi* character. INP fluoresces at room temperature, with a quantum yield approximately 0.04.

Photophysics of enediones

Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 2, 1995
Monocyclic and acyclic 2-ene-1,4-diones have been investigated by electronic absorption and luminescence emission spectroscopies, as well as by the laser flash-photolysis technique (enedione triplet–triplet transient absorptions being observed). The energies of the three lowest excited singlet and of the lowest excited triplet states were determined ...

Photophysics and photochemistry

Physics Today, 1977
Current progress with tunable lasers has made possible the selective excitation of practically any single quantum state of an atom or a molecule with excitation energy in the range 0.1 to 10 eV. Already we can obtain coherent radiation with sufficient intensity to excite a significant fraction of an atomic or molecular sample into chosen quantum states

Photophysics of carbon nanotubes.

2007
This thesis reviews the recent advances made in optical studies of single-wall carbon nanotubes. Studying the electronic and vibrational properties of carbon nanotubes, we find that carbon nanotubes less than 1 nm in diameter exhibit dramatic changes in their electron and phonon dispersion relations due to the curvature of the nanotube sidewall and the

The Photophysics of Tryptophan

1983
The fluorescence of proteins is often dominated by that of the tryptophan residues, and the fluorescence properties of individual tryptophan residues are strongly influenced by their different microenvironments. This has been widely exploited in the use of tryptophan as an intrinsic probe for the structure and conformation of proteins and polypeptides ...

Photophysics of fluorescence

2014
Fluorescence is a phenomenon that has existed for millions of years in the form of bioluminescence of fireflies, glow worms and bioluminescent sea creatures, and the northern lights. A review of references to luminescence in ancient manuscripts in various cultures all over the world through the ages can be found in Harvey’s (1957) detailed and ...
