This study evaluated the photodegradation of commercial insect repellents containing DEET and IR‐3535 under UV‐A and UV‐B irradiation using Raman spectroscopy. Pure DEET and IR‐3535 showed intrinsic photostability, whereas DEET diluted in ethanol and a commercial DEET‐based formulation exhibited significant spectral changes after UV exposure.

Scaffold hopping strategy used to develop chalcones structure‐related to the avobenzone tautomer. Positive aspects of 2‐hydroxychalcones are highlighted. Abstract Chalcones are α,β‐unsaturated ketones with extended π‐conjugation, making them promising scaffolds for the development of organic UV filters.

A randomized trial of a wearable UV dosimeter for skin cancer prevention
BackgroundNon-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is the most prevalent cancer in the United States. Despite guidelines on ultraviolet (UV) avoidance, it remains difficult for people to assess their exposure, as UV is invisible and the onset of UV-induced ...

UV irradiation drives metabolite complexity through photoisomerization of hydroxycinnamic acid‐containing compounds in plants. The olefin functional group of hydroxycinnamic acid enables structural plasticity through trans/cis isomerization. Multiple chromophores within a molecule can amplify UV‐induced transformations.

A low‐cost handheld device for monitoring cutaneous photosensitivity
The cutaneous photosensitivity detection (CPD) device is a handheld contact‐based measurement device using 405 nm excitation and red fluorescence detection for monitoring skin phototoxicity risk after photodynamic therapy (PDT) procedures involving systemic aminolaevulinic acid (ALA) induced protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) photosensitization.

Overlap between Fe and Zn responsive gene regulatory networks (GRNs) were found, indicative of micronutrient crosstalk, and conservation of root and leaf GRNs and genes suggests strong constraint on homeostasis networks in plants. Abstract Micronutrient stress impacts growth, biomass production, and grain yield in crops.

Two factors identified by co‐expression analysis of photosynthetic regulators are described, which are involved in thylakoid pigment content and composition and, through their function, shape the dynamics of NPQ. Abstract Rapid fluctuations in light intensity require swift regulatory adjustments of photosynthesis. Although the major plant regulators of
