Rational determination of real‐life UV exposure across latitudes: An extended Diffey‐based model integrating behavioural factors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This study models real‐life UVB and UVA exposure across latitudes and seasons using an extended Diffey framework with behavioural corrections. Findings reveal predictable dose patterns and support pragmatic SPF and UVA‐PF caps, offering a quantitative basis for realistic photoprotection and regulatory discussion.

Enzymes DNA Repair in Skin Photoprotection: Strategies Counteracting Skin Cancer Development and Photoaging Strategies

open access: yesCosmetics
Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is a major contributor to skin aging and carcinogenesis, primarily through the induction of DNA damage. While conventional sunscreens provide passive protection by blocking UVR, active photoprotection using DNA repair enzymes ...

A proposal for simplifying the labelling of sunscreens

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
A binary system for classifying the magnitude of protection provided by topical sunscreens is proposed and examples of potential symbols for labelling sunscreens are illustrated here. Phototesting is limited to a single area of sunscreen‐protected skin and avoids assessment of the minimal erythema dose on sunscreen‐protected skin.

The interplay between electronic coupling and vibrational motion in Charge and Energy Transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A faithful description of transfer processes in molecular systems requires the accurate determination of two interactions, namely, the electronic coupling and the coupling to vibrational degrees of freedom.
