Approach to Access Benzo[j]phenanthridinones from 1,7-Enynes and Aryldiazonium Salts via a Domino Radical Relay Process Enabled by a P/N-Heteroleptic Cu(I)-Photosensitizer

open access: yes
A mild approach for the synthesis of benzo[j]phenanthridin-6(5H)-one derivatives from 1,7-enynes and aryldiazonium salts has been successfully developed involving a domino radical relay process enabled by a heteroleptic Cu(I)-photosensitizer under ...

Wireless sequential dual light delivery for programmed PDT in vivo

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Using photodynamic therapy (PDT) to treat deep-seated cancers is limited due to inefficient delivery of photosensitizers and low tissue penetration of light. Polymeric nanocarriers are widely used for photosensitizer delivery, while the self-quenching of

Helicalization of Covalent Organic Framework Nanofibers with Amplified Spin Polarizability for Boosting Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A non‐covalent chirality‐induced strategy via chiral solvents is presented to synthesize helical 2D COF nanofibers with high crystallinity, high chirality, and high spin polarization. The helical structure enhances the concentration of photogenerated charges, suppresses exciton recombination, and extends carrier lifetimes, thereby significantly ...

A Self-Oxygenating Photosensitizer Enhances Photodynamic Antibacterial Therapy In Periodontitis

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: There is reduced antibacterial efficacy in hypoxic microenvironments for existing photosensitizers exhibit. So, we designed a photosensitizer with catalytic oxygen-generation properties to enhance the therapeutic effect of antibacterial ...

Trifluoromethyl Boron Dipyrromethene Derivatives as Potential Photosensitizers for Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
In this study, two novel boron dipyrromethene-based photosensitizers (BDP3 and BDP6) substituted with three or six trifluoromethyl groups have been synthesized and characterized with various spectroscopic methods, and their photo-physical, photo-chemical,

Substrate‐Affinitive P‐Type Azapolycyclic Photosensitizer for Chemoselective Nitrilization Under Mild Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed a series of quinoxalinoquinoxaline (QQ) photosensitizers featuring high and tunable excited‐state reduction potentials (E(PC•+/PC*) = –1.76 to –2.05 V vs. SCE). Their hydrogen‐bonding interaction with carbonyl substrates enables selective single‐electron transfer events for selective nitrilization of 1° amides, offering a tunable ...

Photosensitizer fluorescence emission during photodynamic therapy applied to dermatological diseases

open access: yes, 2011
We present a first approach to predict the photosensitizer fluorescence dependence with depth during the Photodynamic Therapy applied to a skin disease commonly treated in the dermatological clinical practice.

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

ZnTPPEA as a Potential Photosensitizer in Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yes, 2022
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an emerging treatment that is used against certain types of cancer and other diseases. It functions using a photosensitizer in the presence of light that contributes to cell death in the desired tissues.
