Synergism in the Photostabilization of Polymers

1987
The mechanisms of synergism of mixtures of light stabilizers with antioxidants and other additives are reviewed. Attention is centred on the most thoroughly studied mechanisms, viz. diffusion of antioxidants to the photoreaction zone, mutual protection of light stabilizer and antioxidant, quenching by light stabilizers of the excited states of ...

Photostabilization of polycarbonate by ZnO coatings

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2004
AbstractThe photostability of bisphenol‐A polycarbonate (PC) can be increased by depositing zinc oxide (ZnO) coatings onto PC films by radiofrequency (rf) magnetron sputtering using an ArO2 plasma. The photoprotective efficiency increases with the thickness of the ZnO layer and also depends on the sputtering parameters (rf power, total pressure ...

ChemInform Abstract: PHOTOSTABILE O‐HYDROXYPHENYL‐CHINAZOLINE

Chemischer Informationsdienst. Organische Chemie, 1971

Benzotriazole Photostabilizers: Nitration of Tinuvin P

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1989
Nitration of the commercial photostabilizer Tinuvin P, 2-(21-hydroxy-5'-methylphenyl)- 2H-benzotriazole,* has been shown to yield 2-(2'-hydroxy-5'-methyl-3'-nitrophenol)-2 H -benzotriazole. The anion of this nitro compound is intensely coloured and may be the cause of yellowing of polymers in which Tinuvin P has been incorporated.

Photostabilization of dacarbazine with reduced glutathione.

Journal of pharmaceutical science and technology : the official journal of PDA, 1994
Reduced glutathione was found to guard against photodecomposition (under fluorescent light) of the anticancer drug dacarbazine (DTIC). Increase in pH appeared to accelerate the degradation of DTIC within a pH range of 4.5-8.1. The stabilizing effect of reduced glutathione was found to increase with its concentration reaching an optimum value at 5 mg ...
