Photoactivatable Xanthone (PaX) Dyes Enable Quantitative, Dual Color, and Live‐Cell MINFLUX Nanoscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 20, 2024.
This work quantitatively explores the performance of the recently reported PaX dyes in MINFLUX imaging, comparing their localization success rate and labeling efficiency with the performance of mMaple, an established fluorophore for the same spectral region. The results advocate PaX dyes as compact markers compatible with living cells for the efficient

Development and analysis of PVC glass slides for urine microstructure studies

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Chemical Engineering
The long-term maintenance of urine precipitation microstructures stays a main restriction in medical laboratory education and routine urinalysis, as traditional glass sides typically permit sample stability for only 1–3 h. In this work, a novel polyvinyl

PCNA as Protein‐Based Nanoruler for Sub‐10 nm Fluorescence Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 7, February 15, 2024.
Emerging super‐resolution microscopy methods achieve sub‐10 nm resolution, necessitating validation on suitable references structures. Here, a protein‐based Imaging Calibration Optical Ruler (PicoRuler) created by site‐specific labeling of PCNA through Genetic Code Expansion and bioorthogonal click chemistry is introduced.

Intramolecular triplet-state quenching as a general method for photostabilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Optical microscopy is an established method to visualize small objects such as cells, viruses, or even smaller entities such as single (bio)molecules. To visualize these objects, light emitting molecules, so-called fluorophores, are linked to the system ...

Ultra-violet spectra studies of photodegradation of PVC films in presence of Fe(III) chelate complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A complex of Fe(III) with 4-amino-5-(pyridyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol was prepared and evaluated as a photodegradation for rigid poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). Polyvinyl chloride dissolved with Fe(III) complex in THF solvent to form PVC films of 5% (40 μm)

Eco‐Friendly Coffee Waste‐Based Carbon Dots Coupled to ZnBi‐Layered Double Hydroxide Heterojunction: Enhanced Control of Interfacial Charge Transfer for Highly Efficient Visible‐Light Catalytic Activity

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Using a simple, low cost, and excellent efficient approach, carbon dots (CDs) were fabricated via a one‐pot hydrothermal process of coffee waste. Amazingly, the combination of 2% CDs with ZnBi2O4 to form a new and excellent heterogeneous photocatalyst enabled the complete decomposition of 2, 4‐dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2, 4‐D) into CO2 and H2O.
