Sites of action of photosynthetic inhibitor herbicides; Experiments with trypsinated chloroplasts

Pest Management Science, 1979
AbstractThe effect of four photosynthetic inhibitor herbicides, bromacil, ioxynil, metribuzin and monuron, on chloroplast electron transport was investigated. All four compounds completely inhibited electron flow with tripotassium hexacyanoferrate as oxidant, but the inhibition caused by bromacil, metribuzin and monuron was almost totally reversed by ...

Chlorophyll fluorescence technique as a rapid diagnostic test of the effects of the photosynthetic inhibitor chlorotoluron on two winter wheat cultivars

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, 2003
A modified chlorophyll fluorescence technique was evaluated as a rapid diagnostic test of the susceptibility of wheat cultivars to chlorotoluron. Two winter wheat cultivars (Maris Huntsman and Mercia) exhibited differential response to the herbicide. All

Wheat susceptibility to blast is enhanced by a photosynthetic inhibitor

Journal of Phytopathology, 2021
Abstract Considering blast, caused by Pyricularia oryzae , as a critical threat to wheat yield and the importance of photosynthesis as the source of energy used by plants to activate their mechanisms of defence to counteract pathogen infections, this study aimed to ...

Photosynthetic inhibitors in Eucalyptus grandis

Phytochemistry, 1988
Abstract Unlike the G-inhibitors isolated from the leaves of Eucalyptus grandis , synthetic G-inhibitors showed no inhibition of photosynthetic electron transport. These findings indicated that small amounts of impurities present in the natural samples were responsible for the inhibition of photosynthetic electron transport.

Effect of inhibitors on the photosynthetic fixation of carbon dioxide

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1954
Abstract Certain inhibitors alter the distribution of C 14 in stable nonvolatile compounds formed by photosynthetic reduction of C 14 O 2 . Dinitrophenol, phenylurethan, and iodoacetamide decrease the percentage of C 14 found in phosphoglyceric acid.

Peculiarities of DNP-INT and DBMIB as inhibitors of the photosynthetic electron transport

Photosynthesis Research, 2023
Inhibitory analysis is a useful tool for studying cytochrome b6f complex in the photosynthetic electron transport chain. Here, we examine the inhibitory efficiency of two widely used inhibitors of the plastoquinol oxidation in the cytochrome b6f complex, namely 2,4-dinitrophenyl ether of 2-iodo-4-nitrothymol (DNP-INT) and 2,5-dibromo-3-methyl-6 ...

A Rapid Bioassay for Photosynthetic and Respiratory Inhibitors

Weed Science, 1971
A bioassay for photosynthetic and respiratory inhibitors was devised. The chlorophyll production ofChlorella pyrenoidosaSorokin, high temperature strain 7-11-05, served as the basis of the bioassay which required 18 to 36 hr to complete. The sensitivity to nine photosynthetic and two respiratory inhibitors ranged from 0.013 to 0.4 ppm. The bioassay was

Sesquiterpenes from Celastrus vulcanicola as Photosynthetic Inhibitors

Journal of Natural Products, 2008
Three new sesquiterpenoids (1- 3) with a dihydro-beta-agarofuran skeleton were isolated from Celastrus vulcanicola. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including homonuclear and heteronuclear correlation NMR experiments (COSY, ROESY, HSQC, and HMBC), and the absolute configurations were determined by circular ...

Synthesis of Pyrazole Derivatives and Their Evaluation as Photosynthetic Electron Transport Inhibitors

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2004
Two series of new pyrazoles, namely six pyrazolo[1,5-a][1,3,5]triazine-2,4-dione and four pyrazolo[1,5-c][1,3,5]thiadiazine-2-one derivatives, were synthesized as potential inhibitors of the photosynthetic electron transport chain at the photosystem II level. The compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR, elemental, and IR analyses.

The crystal structure of the photosynthetic inhibitors DCMU and DTPU

Biopolymers, 1986
AbstractX‐ray diffraction studies have been carried out on a single crystal of the photosynthetic inhibitors N‐(3,4‐dichlorophenyl)‐N′‐dimethylurea (DCMU) and its newly synthesized spin‐labeled analog N‐(3,4‐dichlorophenyl)‐N′‐(3,3,5,5‐tetramethylpiperidine‐4‐oxyl)‐urea (DTPU).
