Abstract Monuron treatment of detached flax cotyledons caused a rapid inhibition of CO2 fixation in darkness and light. Chlorophyll breakdown was promoted by increased light intensity. Ethane generation, an indicator of membrane damage, increased as the chlorophyll level decreased.
