Turnover rates of photosynthetic proteins indicate a correlation with photosynthetic capacity under state transitions

Plant Physiology
Abstract State transitions in algae and higher plants involve the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of light-harvesting complex II, which are regulated by the kinase STN7 and phosphatase TAP38/PPH1. We systematically measured thylakoid protein turnover in stn7-1 and tap38-1 Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) mutants, which are ...

Heterosis in growth and photosynthetic rate in hybrids of cotton

Euphytica, 1981
The intraspecific (Gossipium hirsutum) and interspecific (G. hirsutum x G. barbadense) F1 hybrids of cotton were found to exhibit a high degree of heterosis in the production of fruiting branches, number of bolls (fruits), yield of seed cotton and photosynthetic rates over the parent plants.

The effect of titanium and gallium on photosynthetic rate of algae

Journal of Plant Nutrition, 1985
Abstract The influence of titanium (Ti) and gallium (Ga) on photosynthesis in synchronized algae (Anacystis nidulans) has been investigated. At moderately low concentrations, Ti and Ga enhanced photosynthetic oxygen evolution and a three‐fold increase in fructose‐1, 6‐bisphosphatase activity. In the presence of Ti, growth as determined by dry weight of

Evidence of Reduced Photosynthetic Rates in Old Trees

Forest Science, 1994
Abstract Wood production generally declines as forests age. The decrease in production has been attributed to higher respiration associated with increasing biomass, but direct measurements fail to support this assumption. An alternate hypothesis is that the growth decline is caused by reduced net photosynthesis.

CO2 Reduction Rate of Photosynthetic Bacteria with Ceramics

International Journal of Bio-Science and Bio-Technology, 2016
To address global warming caused by increased CO2 emissions, many studies on CO2 reduction have been conducted worldwide. In carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, the mineral carbonation process causes CO2 to react with particular metals or compounds to stably fix CO2. Many relevant studies have been performed on this capture process.

THE VOLUME‐BASED PHOTOSYNTHETIC RATES OF AQUATIC PLANTS

American Journal of Botany, 1952
INVESTIGATORS who have studied the photosynthesis of planktonic plants have usually expressed their yields "per million cells" or "per liter of water." These bases do not permit meaningful comparisons between different plants since cell volumes vary immensely among different species, and population densities vary similarly among different water masses.

Impact of Light Wavelengths on Photosynthetic Rates in Spinach

2023
In this study, we investigated the effects of different light wavelengths, specifically red, blue, and green light, on the rate of photosynthesis in plants. Transmittance rates were collected at three-minute intervals over a nine-minute duration, and the photosynthetic rates were calculated for each wavelength.
