Diaminobenzidine an Electron Donor to Photosystem 1 and to Photosystem 2 in Chloroplasts [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1975
3,3′‐Diaminobenzidine was shown to serve as an electron donor to photosystem 1 [in the presence of 3‐(3,4‐dichlorophenyl)‐1,1‐dimethylurea. In Tris‐treated chloroplasts diaminobenzidine serves as an electron donor to photosystem 1 and to photosystem 2; the latter is sensitive to 3‐(3,4‐dichloro‐pheny 1)‐1,1‐dimethylurea.

Relationship Between Glycerolipids and Photosynthetic Components During Recovery of Thylakoid Membranes From Nitrogen Starvation-Induced Attenuation in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Thylakoid membranes, the site of photochemical and electron transport reactions of oxygenic photosynthesis, are composed of a myriad of proteins, cofactors including pigments, and glycerolipids.

Reduction in chloroplastic ribulose-5-phosphate-3-epimerase decreases photosynthetic capacity in Arabidopsis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Chloroplast ribulose-5-phosphate-3-epimerase (RPE) is a critical enzyme involved in the Calvin-Benson cycle and oxidative pentose phosphate pathways in higher plants.

Enzyme‐Like Synthetic Cleft for Light‐Driven Water‐Oxidation Catalysis Via an Oxide Relay Pathway

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A carboxylic acid group introduced into the second coordination sphere of a Ru(bda) water oxidation catalyst forms a defined hydrogen bond within the catalytic cleft. This interaction locks the group in place and enables an intramolecular oxide relay pathway between Ru(V)═O and the carboxylate group, providing a distinct and efficient route for O─O ...

ZZE-Configuration of chromophore ß-153 in C-phycocyanin from Mastigocladus laminosus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The photochemistry of C-phycocyanin has been studied after denaturation in the dark. It shows an irreversible reaction which has characteristics of a Ζ,Ζ,Ε- to Z,Z,Z-isomerization of dihydrobilins. Its amplitude depends on the reaction conditions, with

Poly-Glutamic Acid Regulates Physiological Characteristics, Plant Growth, and the Accumulation of the Main Medical Ingredients in the Root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Under Water Shortage

open access: yesAgronomy
To supply information concerning the application of poly-glutamic acid (PGA) in the drought-resistant cultivation of red sage (Salvia miltiorrhiza), we investigated the role of PGA in regulating the physiological characteristics, plant growth, and the ...

FdC1 and Leaf-Type Ferredoxins Channel Electrons From Photosystem I to Different Downstream Electron Acceptors

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Plant-type ferredoxins in Arabidopsis transfer electrons from the photosystem I to multiple redox-driven enzymes involved in the assimilation of carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur.

A Comparison Between Plant Photosystem I and Photosystem II Architecture and Functioning [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protein & Peptide Science, 2014
Oxygenic photosynthesis is indispensable both for the development and maintenance of life on earth by converting light energy into chemical energy and by producing molecular oxygen and consuming carbon dioxide. This latter process has been responsible for reducing the CO2 from its very high levels in the primitive atmosphere to the present low levels ...

Light and Dark Cycles Control the Structural Evolution of Photoresponsive Supramolecular Systems

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Here, we report a photoswitchable synthetic peptide that, under light energy cycles, exhibits supramolecular polymorphism coupled to darkness‐driven structural self‐selection. We demonstrate that light sustains a transient assembled state in the form of helical nanoribbons, hindering the system from undergoing a transition to the disassembled state ...
