Implanted Miniature Light Devices for Phototherapeutics
Modern phototherapeutics has many attractive features; however, the shallow penetration of light into skin and tissue is an inherent physical limitation that restricts usage to superficial sites of disease. To mitigate this major problem, researchers and clinicians are actively developing miniature implanted light devices that can be implanted within a

FLASH‐PDT uses strongly‐absorbing photosensitizers and pulsed lasers to saturate the photosensitizer absorption at ≈1‐cm tissue depths. This allows for the generation of [ROS] above the necrosis threshold level for tumors, while maintaining [ROS] in peritumoral tissues below that threshold, even when the tumor‐to‐peritumoral tissue ratio is as low as 2.

Low‐coherence holotomography reveals that disordered nanowire substrates guide astrocyte morphology toward branched, in vivo–like star‐shaped morphology, emphasizing the role of biophysical cues in shaping neural cell behavior. The developed nanostructured platform offers a new route to study astrocytes for neurobiology studies. Abstract Astrocytes are

This study identifies PorRu as a “dual‐lock” G‐quadruplex binder, which also serves as a tumor‐targeting Type I photosensitizer. This agent overcomes the limitations of oxygen‐dependent PDT, providing a novel strategy for precise HCC therapy. ABSTRACT The hypoxic tumor microenvironment severely limits the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in ...
