Transparent ultraviolet photovoltaic cells
Optics Letters, 2016Photovoltaic cells have been fabricated from p-GaN/MgO/n-ZnO structures. The photovoltaic cells are transparent to visible light and can transform ultraviolet irradiation into electrical signals. The efficiency of the photovoltaic cells is 0.025% under simulated AM 1.5 illumination conditions, while it can reach 0.46% under UV illumination.

Thermoradiative–Photovoltaic Cells
IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2019A novel model of the hybrid cells consisting of a thermoradiative (TR) cell and a photovoltaic (PV) cell is conceptually proposed, where the TR and PV cells are coupled via far-field thermal emission. Analytical formulas for the power output density and efficiency of the hybrid cells are derived.

In order to improve the performance of solar energy systems, accurate modeling of current versus voltage (I–V) characteristics of solar cells has attracted the attention of various researches. The main drawback in accurate modeling is the lack of information about the precise parameter values which indeed characterize the solar cell.

Measurements of Photovoltaic Cells
2014This chapter describes the methods of evaluating the performance of photovoltaic cells and modules. The key evaluating factor of photovoltaic cells is the energy converting efficiency under standard testing conditions. The efficiency is the ratio of the maximum electrical output power of a solar cell to the incident optical power in the form of ...
