About the criteria for triggering the reconfiguration of a photovoltaic array
2014 IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2014The dynamical reconfiguration of the photovoltaic array is a feasible method for maximizing the electrical power it produces in presence of partial shading. Although in literature some algorithms aimed at determining the best configuration to be settled for a given shadowing pattern have been presented, no indications about the electrical conditions ...

A review of solar photovoltaic array reconfiguration methods
2015 IEEE 24th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2015Shading causes significant reduction in energy production in photovoltaic (PV) systems. The negative effects caused by shadowing can be reduced through different techniques, among them, the reconfiguration of PV array electrical connections, stands out.

Reconfiguration analysis of photovoltaic arrays based on parameters estimation
Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, 2013Abstract A method to determine the photovoltaic (PV) series–parallel array configuration that provides the highest Global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) is proposed in this paper. Such a procedure was designed to only require measurements of voltage and current of each string, which avoids to perform experiments in each module.

Impact of varying photovoltaic penetration on minimum loss reconfiguration
IECON 2013 - 39th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2013The novelty of this paper is that it incorporates real world situation like photovoltaic (PV) penetration variability in a test network in order to evaluate its impact on the reconfiguration of the network with an aim to reduce the losses. This paper shows that an incremental increase in PV penetration will result in either the same optimal ...

An interconnection reconfiguration method for concentrator photovoltaic array
2013 IEEE 39th Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC), 2013This paper reports on the application of heuristic algorithms for one-dimensional bin-packing problems in solving current mismatch of concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) arrays that is caused by non-uniform solar flux distribution. As a case study, actual flux profile for a non-imaging planar concentrator (NIPC) is measured based on CPV cells' location in ...

On the Sudoku-based Arrangement in Reconfiguring a Large-scale Photovoltaic Array
2020 59th Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan (SICE), 2020Partial shading conditions (PSCs) is the most common phenomenon among photovoltaic (PV) modules of a PV array, causing significant power losses in the PV array as well as reducing lifespan of the PV array. Rearranging the interconnection of PV modules of a PV array can equalize the irradiance in each row of PV modules, which improves the output power ...

Photovoltaic array reconfiguration for maximum power transfer
TENCON 2009 - 2009 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2009In this paper, we developed a photovoltaic array reconfiguration algorithm to maximize the power that an array can provide a load. The algorithm reconfigures the array such that each element of the array is operated at its maximum power point. A switch topology was also designed to implement the algorithm using the minimum number of switches.

Fast photovoltaic array reconfiguration for partial solar powered vehicles
Proceedings of the 2014 international symposium on Low power electronics and design, 2014This paper demonstrates that a partially solar powered EV can significantly save battery energy during cruising using innovative fast photovoltaic array (PV) reconfiguration. Use of all the vehicle sur- face areas, such as the hood, rooftop, door panels, quarter pan- els, etc., makes it possible to install more PV modules, but it also results in severe

Switch -based reconfigurable Photovoltaic array for power maximization
2012 International Conference on Emerging Electronics, 2012It is well-known that shadow effects or faulty cells in Photovoltaic (PV) module results into reduced current, consequently, lowering output power. Some approaches are reported in literature to deal with this problem. The incorporation of bypass diodes in PV module addresses this problem up to certain extent.

Reconfigurable photovoltaic integrated with CMOS for a fault tolerant system
2016 IEEE 43rd Photovoltaic Specialists Conference (PVSC), 2016For space applications, photovoltaic cells provide the best power to weight ratio than any other power source. But, overexposure to electromagnetic radiations and hostile environment in space can damage the photovoltaic cells. In addition, manual intervention in space is too expensive.
