Anatomical Behaviour of the Phrenic Nerve and Innervation of the Diaphragm in the Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus). [PDF]

open access: yesAnat Histol Embryol
ABSTRACT The phrenic nerve is responsible for the motor innervation of the diaphragm, which is essential for breathing. The literature lacks data regarding the nervous and respiratory systems of wild animals, especially the maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus).

Complications after medullary thyroid carcinoma surgery: multicentre study of the SQRTPA and EUROCRINE® databases

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study investigated postoperative complications after surgery for medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in Europe. Hypoparathyroidism, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and bleeding requiring reoperation occurred in 170 (26·2 per cent), 62 (13·7 per cent) and 17 (2·6 per cent) patients respectively.

Vocal cord collapse during phrenic nerve-paced respiration in congenital central hypoventilation syndrome [v1; ref status: indexed, http://f1000r.es/Sh1pwj]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2012
Objective: Phrenic nerve pacing can be used to treat congenital central hypoventilation syndrome (CCHS). We report how the lack of normal vocal cord tone during phrenic paced respiration can result in passive vocal cord collapse and produce obstructive ...

Ultrasound measurement of the distance of the phrenic nerve from the brachial plexus at the classic interscalene point and upper trunk: A volunteer-based observational study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2023
Background and Aims: The method of blocking the brachial plexus at the level of the upper trunk has been gaining popularity as a phrenic nerve–sparing alternative for interscalene block.

Successful termination of persistent hiccups via combined ultrasound and nerve stimulator-guided singular phrenic nerve block: a case report and literature review

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2023
Persistent hiccups that occur after abdominal surgery seriously affect postoperative rehabilitation. Phrenic nerve block therapy has been recommended after failure of medication or physical maneuvers.
