Development and production of allogeneic cord blood‐derived red blood cell concentrates for transfusion to extremely preterm neonates, the All‐Cord study

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Extremely preterm neonates often require red blood cell (RBC) transfusions derived from adult donors. These transfusions introduce adult hemoglobin into a neonatal hematopoietic system dominated by fetal hemoglobin (HbF), shifting the oxygen‐dissociation curve and increasing oxygen delivery to immature tissues.

Bacterial proliferation is comparable in red blood cell concentrates stored in DEHT/PAGGSM and DEHP/SAGM containers

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives The European Union's ban on the use of di(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) in medical devices will take effect in 2030. DEHP is a plasticizer in polyvinyl chloride blood bags that helps stabilize the red blood cell membrane during hypothermic red blood cell concentrate (RBCC) storage.

Electronic Smoking Devices Among University Students: Usage Patterns and Chemical Composition of Inhaled Substances

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the prevalence of electronic smoking device (ESD) use and its associated behavioural and chemical risks among university students in Bahia, Brazil. A cross‐sectional survey was conducted with 355 students from public and private institutions through an online questionnaire between April and May 2023. Among participants,

Atmospheric Deposition of Organic Pollutants: A Comprehensive Review of Sampling and Analytical Methodologies

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances, Volume 7, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Atmospheric deposition of organic pollutants plays a crucial role in the transport and fate of contaminants in the environment, with implications for ecosystem health and human exposure. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and microplastics are increasingly recognized as transboundary threats due to ...

Investigation of Advanced Oxidation Processes Based on Ultraviolet Radiation for the Removal of Phthalate Compounds from Aquatic Environments [PDF]

open access: yesMuhandisī-i Bihdāsht-i Muḥīṭ
Background: Phthalates are among the most significant industrial pollutants that endanger human health. These endocrine-disrupting compounds are commonly used in the manufacture of furniture and plastic containers, which can easily enter water sources ...

δ13C and δ15N Values of Residues Provide Insights Into Identification of the Explosive Source

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 10, 30 May 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Postblast analyses of military and terrorist events will benefit from the capacity to learn more about the explosive materials used in an event. Here stable isotope ratio analyses (δ13C, δ15N) can provide additional information to complement identification of the explosive components.

Revisiting acidulation for tall oil and lignin manufacturing

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 1677-1691, April 2026.
Abstract Tall oil is a byproduct of the kraft pulping process when softwood is used as raw material. As the production of softwood‐based pulp is in high demand, the optimization of the tall oil production process needs to be revisited to ensure the highest quality and quantity of tall oil manufacturing. In this work, the process for tall oil production
