Phthalic Acid Esters

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 1984
The twentieth century can as properly be called the age of organic chemistry as it can the atomic age. The dramatic increase in the production of synthetic fibers, processed foods, pesticides, plastics, pharmaceuticals, and a thousand other materials has completely altered our immediate human environment and provided a wealth of new materials.

Aqueous solubility of m-phthalic acid, o-phthalic acid and p-phthalic acid from 298 to 483 K

Separation and Purification Technology, 1999
Abstract In an equilibrium cell, the aqueous solubility of m -phthalic acid ( m -PTA), o -phthalic acid ( o -PTA), p -phthalic acid ( p -PTA) was determined from 298 to 483 K using a method in which an excess amount of solubilizate was equilibrated with the aqueous solution and the saturated liquid compositions were analyzed by titration.

Toxicokinetics of Phthalic Acid: The Common Final Metabolite of Phthalic Acid Esters in Rats

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part A, 2007
The toxicokinetic profiles of phthalic acid (PA), which is the common final metabolite of phthalic acid esters (PAE), were studied in rats after orally administering doses 20, 100, or 500 mg/kg. Concentrations of PA were determined in serum or urine by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The plasma concentrations of PA showed a biexponential

The diamagnetic susceptibilities of phthalic acid and phthalic anhydride

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1949
1. The gram-molecular susceptibilities of carefully purified samples of phthalic acid and its anhydride are determined. The susceptibilities are: Phthalic acid, Xm=−81·24×10−6 Phthalic anhydride, Xm=−67·31×10−6 It is found that whereas the value of the gram-molecular susceptibility of phthalic acid found by Gray and Birse and ourselves is nearly ...

Phthalic acid esters in water

Water Research, 1974
Abstract Two phthalic acid esters, di( n -butyl)phthalate and di (2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, were surveyed in the river water, well water and city water of Tokyo metropolice area. In the river water these esters were found in the range of 0·4–6·8 μ gl −1 .

Phthalic Acid Esters and Liver

1997
Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are the most commonly used plasticizers which are added to provide desired flexibility and clarity to the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics used in packaging, storage and delivery of food, drugs and cosmetics. Some of the PAEs are also used as the vehicle for perfumes. A finished plastic product may contain as much as 50% of
