Major biotransformation of phthalic acid esters in Eisenia fetida: Mechanistic insights and association with catalytic enzymes and intestinal symbionts

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2023
Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are an important group of organic pollutants that are widely used as plasticizers in the environment. The PAEs in soil organisms are likely to be biotransformed into a variety of metabolites, and the combined toxicity of PAEs ...

Liquid‐phase oxidation of furfural catalyzed by magnetically separable metal oxide nanoparticles deposited on silica gel

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Oxidation of furfural (FF), a bio‐based platform chemical, was investigated using a range of iron‐, vanadium‐ and iron–zinc‐oxalates supported on silica gel (FeVOx@silica and FeZnOx@silica, respectively) as precursor for FeV@silica and FeZn@silica oxide catalysts and H2O2 as a green oxidant.

Synthesis and characterization of amphiphilic nitroxide 1,1,3,3–tetraethylisoindoline–2–oxyl–5–sodium sulfonate (TEIOSNa)

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The synthesis and characterization of an amphiphilic nitroxide to be used as a controlling agent in a nitroxide‐mediated living radical polymerization in aqueous dispersion media is presented. In the first stage of nitroxide synthesis (phthalimide protection), two reaction methods were employed: traditional and microwave.

Molecularly Engineered Dual‐Crosslinked Polymer Dielectrics for 200 °C Capacitive Energy Storage

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work establishes a molecular engineering strategy that constructs a robust dual‐crosslinked network in polymer nanocomposites, achieving a record‐high energy density of 5.17 J cm−3 with >90% efficiency at 200 °C. The multiscale‐validated design simultaneously enhances dielectric polarization and introduces deep electron traps, resulting in ...

Lattice‐Strained Cu2O‐Ni/NiO Heterostructure Enables Selective Electrocatalytic C–C Coupling of Alcohols to Cinnamaldehyde in Aqueous Medium

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study achieved the selective oxidation C–C coupling of PhCH2OH with EtOH to form cinnamaldehyde (CAL) on a designed Cu2O‐Ni/NiO heterojunction catalyst. By employing a salt precipitation strategy to balance the pH and cation concentration, an 86% conversion rate of PhCH2OH and a 67% high selectivity for CAL were realized.
