Exploring Multifaceted Roles of Bambusicolous Apiospora in Phyllostachys bambusoides. [PDF]
Abstract Bamboo plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change. Among various microorganisms inhabiting bamboo, Apiospora is a common bambusicolous fungus that induces black spots, functioning either as a saprobe or as a plant pathogen.

A Natural Composite Extract Restores Skin Barrier Function by Modulating Inflammatory, Hydration, and Redox Pathways. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Objective This study was to evaluate the effects of a composite extract of Prunus mume flower, Lonicera japonica flower (honeysuckle), Chrysanthemum indicum flower, and Phyllostachys bambusoides, which we named PLCP, on skin hydration, inflammation, itching, and oxidative stress in pediatric (NHEK) and adult (HaCaT) keratinocytes.

Bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides) leaf extracts inhibit adipogenesis by regulating adipogenic transcription factors and enzymes in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. [PDF]
In this study, the inhibitory effects of bamboo leaf extracts on adipogenesis were investigated by evaluating their activity against adipogenic transcription factors and enzymes in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Bamboo leaf extracts significantly decreased triglyceride levels, and increased glycerol release in adipocytes.

The CV is dead, long live the CV!
Abstract Biology has an increasing need to reconsider the tools used to assess the variability of measurements, in addition to their central tendency. More than 100 years after Pearson's publication, most biologists still use the “good old” Pearson's coefficient of variation, PCV, despite its documented flaws such as sensitivity to excess zero values ...

Potential use of bamboo resources in energy value‐added conversion technology and energy systems
Bamboo offers a potential solution to the energy crisis and climate change. It can be converted into bioenergy through processes like pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, fermentation, and anaerobic digestion. However, challenges exist, and an evaluation system for energy bamboo species is proposed to optimize its utilization for maximum benefits ...

Detecting latitudinal and altitudinal expansion of invasive bamboo Phyllostachys edulis and Phyllostachys bambusoides (Poaceae) in Japan to project potential habitats under 1.5°C-4.0°C global warming. [PDF]
AbstractRapid expansion of exotic bamboos has lowered species diversity in Japan's ecosystems by hampering native plant growth. The invasive potential of bamboo, facilitated by global warming, may also affect other countries with developing bamboo industries.

Applying the stress‐gradient hypothesis to curb the spread of invasive bamboo
We provide evidence that the stress‐gradient hypothesis can inform practical recommendations for invasive species control. We characterised geographic variability in the effect of forest thinning, a widespread management intervention used to enhance forest biodiversity, on the risk of bamboo spread into secondary forests in Japan.

A Review on Bamboo Resource in the African Region: A Call for Special Focus and Action
The African region has untapped bamboo resource potential with immense socioeconomic, cultural, and ecological significances. Despite the long history of bamboo in the region, its contribution is at the infant stage. Therefore, the present study aimed at reviewing the existing literature supported by research experience on bamboo resource in the region.

ENERGETIC POTENTIAL OF Phyllostachys bambusoides AS AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF BIOMASS
In Brazil, Phyllostachys bambusoides has been used for the manufacture of laminated bamboo products and landscaping. However, studies of its energy quality are rare. Thus, this study aimed to determine the energetic quality of Phyllostachys bambusoides for the use of stems in the fresh form (chips) for direct burning, as charcoal and as briquettes. Its
