Reyranella graminifolii sp. nov., isolated from bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides) litter

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, 2014
A novel strain designated Wo-34T was isolated from bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides) litter. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, catalase-negative and oxidase-positive rods. The isolate grew aerobically at 15–35 °C (optimum 28 °C), pH 4.0–9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and in the presence of 0–1.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 0.1 % NaCl). Phylogenetic analyses

Estimating causal effects with machine learning: A guide for ecologists

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 12, Page 2771-2783, December 2025.
Abstract In ecology, there is a growing need to move beyond correlations to uncovering causal effects from observational data. With the parallel increase in big data and machine learning algorithms, the opportunity now exists to benefit from causal machine learning methodologies.

Investigation and application of different extraction techniques for the production of finer bamboo fibres

open access: yesAdvances in Bamboo Science
Bamboos are an important source of fibres. Natural bamboo fibres possess have characteristics that make them of potential use in textiles. However, they have not received the attention they deserve due to the difficulty of extracting finer fibres.

Basal emission rates of isoprene and monoterpenes from major tree species in Japan: interspecies and intraspecies variabilities

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science
Uncontrolled terpenoid emissions from forest trees in Japan may have contributed to high O3 concentrations observed in urban and suburban areas. To estimate ozone formation via a series of reactions between NO x and terpenoids using atmospheric chemistry

Bonding technology for bamboo-based fiber reinforced composites with Phyllostachys bambusoides f. shouzhu Yi

open access: yesBioResources, 2018
The objective of this study was to investigate the mechanical and physical properties of bamboo-based fiber reinforced composites (BFRC) that were formed by using loose bamboo bundles (LBB) and phenol formaldehyde (PF) adhesive. Three resin content levels (10%, 14%, and 18%) and seven different assembly patterns were selected when the bundles were ...

Bleaching of Bamboo (Phyllostachys bambusoides) Kraft-AQ Pulp with Sodium Perborate Tetrahydrate (SPBTH) after Oxygen Delignification

open access: yesBioResources, 2013
The most prominent environmental problems facing the paper industry are those due to bleaching processes that use chlorine compounds. In this study, totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching sequences were applied to Phyllostachys bambusoides bamboo unbleached kraft anthraquinone (AQ) pulp, using different conditions with Oxygen (O) delignification and ...
