Phylogenetic relationships among superfamilies of Hymenoptera [PDF]
AbstractThe first comprehensive analysis of higher‐level phylogeny of the order Hymenoptera is presented. The analysis includes representatives of all extant superfamilies, scored for 392 morphological characters, and sequence data for four loci (18S, 28S, COI and EF‐1α). Including three outgroup taxa, 111 terminals were analyzed.

Recombinant Proteins: A Molecular Tool to Understand Marine Adhesion and to Advance Biomaterials
The production of recombinant proteins represents a fundamental step in the characterisation of marine invertebrate adhesives and in the development of bio‐inspired glues. The association of these proteins with other components such as ions, proteins, polysaccharides, or polymers enables the fabrication of biomaterials for various healthcare ...

Phylogenetic relationships of Malagasy Hyacinthaceae
Background – Whereas subfamily Oziroeoideae of the petaloid monocot family Hyacinthaceae is restricted to South America, the three other subfamilies, Ornithogaloideae, Urgineoideae and Hyacinthoideae, have much larger primary distribution areas spanning the Mediterranean and Central Europe, Arabian Peninsula, Indian subcontinent, Far East (China and ...

Gradients of Aliveness and Engineering: A Taxonomy of Fungal Engineered Living Materials
This paper explores the potential of fungal engineered living materials (ELMs), examining fungal biology and growth mechanisms, which underpin their development. It presents a classification framework based on aliveness, scaffold composition, and engineering degree. Unique properties such as self‐healing, biosensing, and bioremediation are highlighted,

Predicting protein function with hierarchical phylogenetic profiles: The Gene3D phylo-tuner method applied to eukaryotic Genomes [PDF]
"Phylogenetic profiling'' is based on the hypothesis that during evolution functionally or physically interacting genes are likely to be inherited or eliminated in a codependent manner.
