[The impact of phylogenetic uncertainty on the metrics of community phylogenetic structure].
Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2018Phylogeny has been widely used to quantify community phylogenetic structure and to infer the underlying mechanism. Many studies, however, neglected phylogeny uncertainty and its potential impact on community phylogenetic structure. In this study, we explored the potential impact of phylogenetic uncertainty among 150 species in a 20 hm2 plot in Tiantong,

A phylogenetic approach to RNA structure prediction.
Proceedings. International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology, 2000Methods based on the Mutual Information statistic (MI methods) predict structure by looking for statistical correlations between sequence positions in a set of aligned sequences. Although MI methods are often quite effective, these methods ignore the underlying phylogenetic relationships of the sequences they analyze.

A phylogenetic definition of structure

Phylogenetics: Tertiary protein structures needed
Nature Ecology & Evolution, 2017We need to estimate protein tertiary structure, as well as using primary sequences, in order to further our understanding of protein evolution and evolutionary processes in general.

Habitat species pools for phylogenetic structure in microbes
Environmental Microbiology Reports, 2013Summary The processes underlying the phylogenetic structure of the biotic communities are typically scale‐dependent and thus often poorly resolved. Illustrated by the study of macroorganisms, it is suggested that the relative influence of ecological processes on the phylogenetic structure of the communities can be inferred by the ...

Phylogenetic Aspects of Myelin Structure
1990Proteins are the major determinants of the spacing between membranes in compact, internodal myelin. This conclusion derives from X-ray diffraction and biochemical analyses (Kirschner et al., 1984; Inouye and Kirschner, 1988a,b; Lemke, 1988). For example, the idea that proteins protrude into the spaces between the membrane bilayers and act as struts to ...

The Primary Structure of Sturgeon Prolactin: Phylogenetic Implication
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1993The complete amino acid sequence of prolactin (PRL) from a chondrostean species, the sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedti), has been determined. Sturgeon PRL was isolated from the pituitary glands by gel filtration on a Sephadex G-25 column and high-performance liquid chromatography on a reverse-phase column following acid-acetone extraction.

The Phylogenetic Origins of Immunoglobulin Structure
1978Comparative analyses of protein structure in different species can be useful guides to developments in evolutionary history (Arnheim, 1973). This approach is as applicable to the field of immunochemistry as it is to any other biological discipline. Such an analysis involves a search for clues to the origins and developmental processes of a currently ...

Tree structure in phylogenetic networks
2019Phylogenetic trees are widely used to express and explore evolutionary relationships. In recent times, the observation of evolutionary processes that cannot be expressed by individual phylogenetic trees has prompted interest in the study of phylogenetic networks.
