Genetic Diversity and Impacts of Stocking on Cyprinus carpio Populations in Türkiye: Insights From Mitochondrial, Nuclear, and Microsatellite Markers

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding genetic diversity and population structure is essential for the sustainable management of widely stocked freshwater species such as common carp (Cyprinus carpio). In this study, we conducted a comprehensive genetic assessment of C.

Mitogenomic phylogenetic analyses of Leptogorgia virgulata and Leptogorgia hebes (Anthozoa: Octocorallia) from the Gulf of Mexico provides insight on Gorgoniidae divergence between Pacific and Atlantic lineages

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
The use of genetics in recent years has brought to light the need to reevaluate the classification of many gorgonian octocorals. This study focuses on two Leptogorgia species—Leptogorgia virgulata and Leptogorgia hebes—from the northwestern Gulf of ...

Phylogeographic analysis revealed allopatric distribution pattern and biogeographic processes of the widespread pale chub Opsariichthys acutipinnis-evolans complex (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) in southeastern China

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2023
Understanding phylogeographic patterns of widespread species can provide insights into their speciation processes and guide the conservation and management measures.

Phylogeography, population structure, and landscape genetics of snow leopards across High Asia

open access: yes, 2023
McCarthy, Kyle P.Snow leopards (Panthera uncia) inhabit the mountainous regions of High Asia, which is known to have experienced glacial contractions and expansions during climatic cycles of the Pleistocene. The corresponding forces of glacial vicariance

Speciation of European bullheads (Cottus spp.): The next problem for taxonomy of northern freshwater fishes

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract High morphological and ecological diversity displayed by European bullheads led Freyhof et al. (2005) to describe 15 nominal species. However, the basis for declaring these nominal species is contentious due to a lack of rigorous statistical analysis of morphological variations among populations, limitations in the inferences made from ...

Genetic footprints of Quaternary glacial cycles over the patterns of population diversity and structure in three Nacella (Patellogastropoda: Nacellidae) species across the Magellan province in southern South America

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Quaternary glaciations severely altered landscape/seascape at high latitudes and had major consequences on species geographical ranges, population sizes, genetic differentiation and speciation rates.

Phylogeography of lagenorhynchus acutus and lagenorhynchus albirostris and phylogeny of the genus lagenorhynchus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This study had two main objectives: to clarify the phylogenetic position of the species cuiTently classified in the genus L igenorhynchus, using a ทานItilocus phylogenetic approach; and to understand the evolutionary history, population structure and ...

Spatial inference of ancestor locations suggests northern refugia for canopy‐forming kelps in the Pacific Northwest

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Population genetic structure in the Pacific Northwest for (a–c) Nereocystis and (d–f) Macrocystis. Summary Pockets of the formerly glaciated Pacific coastline of North America likely remained ice‐free throughout the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). These areas may have served as refugia for terrestrial species, but less is known about their role in the ...

Ibero‐Balearic plant disjunctions: genomic support for rapid and recurrent long‐distance colonizations of the endangered Diplotaxis ibicensis (Brassicaceae) despite no dispersal syndromes

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Genotyping‐by‐sequencing data reveal six well‐defined clades in the endangered Diplotaxis ibicensis, endemic to the western Mediterranean Basin and indicate rapid and recurrent long‐distance colonisations across the Balearic Islands and the eastern Iberian coast despite the absence of dispersal syndromes.
