Gemini surfactant–water mixtures: some physical–chemical properties
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2002Abstract The phase diagram of the water-Gemini 16-4-16 system has been investigated and the phase boundaries were determined. DSC and optical microscopy were used to define the region of existence of the different phases. No liquid crystalline phases have been observed, however, a two-phase region and a wide gel phase follow the solution region.

Physical-chemical properties of β2-microglobulin
Molecular Immunology, 1974Abstract The hydrodynamic and optical properties of β2-microglobulin, a low mol. wt protein with established sequence homologies to the immunoglobulin G molecule, was studied by analytical gel chromatography, circular dichroism (CD), optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and fluorescence measurements.

The Soil. Physical, Chemical and Biological Properties
2016This chapter provides a basic description of soil properties and processes, stressing the concept that the soil is a dynamic entity where complex interactions among its biological, chemical and physical components take place. All these components and properties determine the functioning of the soil for different purposes; this functioning is included ...

Physical/chemical properties of 2,3,7,8-TCDD
Chemosphere, 1985Abstract The efforts to characterize the transport and fate of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) have been delayed because of insufficient information on the physical/chemical properties of the compound. The work presented in this paper involves the efforts to establish a sound data base for the physical/chemical properties of TCDD.

Soil Properties (Physical, Chemical, Biological, Mechanical)
2017Soil is an anchor for plant roots and as a water holding reservoir for needed moisture, soil delivers a hospitable place for a plant to take root. Some of the soil properties affecting plant growth include soil texture, aggregate size, porosity, aeration, and water holding capacity.

On Certain Physical-Chemical Properties of Infant Formulas
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1977The article in this issue of theJournalby Paxson, Adcock, and Morriss (see p 139) directs the reader's attention to the variability in the osmolality of commonly used formulas. Further, it reminds us that notable differences in concentration exist either due to the variation among lots from a single manufacturer or due to alterations in the method of ...

Physical-Chemical Phenomena and Molecular Properties
1984The importance of air-water exchange processes as determinants of the environmental behavior and effects of natural and anthropogenic chemicals is discussed. The various exchange mechanisms of diffusion (volatilization or absorption), deposition in association with particles both dry and wet, dissolution in rainfall, spray transfer and bubble transfer ...

Cationic Ester-Containing Gemini Surfactants: Physical−Chemical Properties
Langmuir, 2010Three ester-containing cationic gemini surfactants, two with decanoyl chains and either a three-carbon or a six-carbon spacer unit and one with dodecanoyl chains and a three-carbon spacer, were synthesized and evaluated. A corresponding monomeric cationic ester surfactant was used for comparison. This type of amphiphile, a so-called esterquat, is known

Rabbit liver transglutaminase: physical, chemical, and catalytic properties
Biochemistry, 1977Transglutaminase (R-glutaminyl-peptide:amine alpha-glutamyl-yltransferase [EC 2.3.2.13]) has been purified to apparent homogeneity from extracts of rabbit liver. The enzyme is a single polypeptide chain of approximately 80 000 molecular weight containing one catalytic site per molecule.

Physical, Chemical and Optical Aerosol Properties
2015This chapter provides the tools to describe aerosol properties qualitatively and quantitatively. It introduces a number of characteristic radii of the aerosol size distribution and different possible expressions for the size distribution. The main chemical (inorganic, organic and mineral) species composing the atmospheric aerosols are reviewed and the ...
